THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Senior Data Engineer with 12 years of experience, you will be responsible for building and managing data pipelines that collect social data from multiple channels, helping our teams understand and respond to trends in the gaming community. You will work closely with data analyst, publishing platform product managers, and development teams to ensure we have reliable, timely data to inform strategy and decision-making. The role requires hands-on technical skills as well as the ability to collaborate across functions.  This will be a hybrid/onsite role in El Segundo, CA or Bellevue, WA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Social Data Collection: Design, implement, and maintain scalable pipelines to collect data from social platforms (e.g., Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, Discord, Twitch) and community forums relevant to our games.
  • ETL Development: Build and manage efficient Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to handle large volumes of social data, ensuring data is structured and ready for analysis.
  • Data Management: Monitor data quality and develop processes for maintaining clean, accurate, and up-to-date data in compliance with governance standards.
  • Collaboration: Work with data scientists, analysts, and product teams to translate business needs into data requirements and provide the necessary data to fuel insights and reporting.
  • Tool Integration: Identify and integrate third-party data collection and analysis tools to streamline data gathering and ensure the seamless flow of information.
  • Troubleshooting & Optimization: Actively monitor data pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize workflows for scalability and efficiency.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of data processes, pipelines, and any transformations applied to data.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: 12+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 5 years focused on social data collection and management in gaming or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Experience with Hadoop ecosystem or similar distributed data processing systems (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake).
    • Proven experience in handling large-scale data for real-time streaming and batch processing, as well as developing and operating data ingestion and provisioning services.
    • Proficiency in working with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. Experience with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform.
    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline development and management. Understanding and experience with ML and AI technologies is a plus.
  • Social Data Expertise: Experience with social media APIs, web scraping, and data aggregation tools, with a deep understanding of how to collect and manage data from social platforms at scale.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Strong knowledge of data governance practices and maintaining data security, including familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, or other data privacy regulations.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred: Experience in the gaming industry or working with game-related social platforms and communities.
  • Preferred: Proficiency in Korean to effectively communicate with teams and stakeholders in Korea.
