THE OPPORTUNITY

Join KRAFTON Americas Creative Department as an Unreal Engine Generalist, contributing across various aspects of real-time content creation. You will be involved in the entire pipeline—from asset generation to lighting, shading, and environment creation, all while utilizing your layout and previz expertise to deliver high-quality cinematic sequences.

Responsibilities

  • Generalist Role: Manage a broad array of tasks across Unreal Engine, including asset integration, material and shader development, lighting, visual effects, and real-time optimization.
  • Cinematic Previz: Utilize previz skills to block out scenes, establish shot flow, and set up camera angles to ensure compelling and visually engaging sequences.
  • Scene Assembly and Layout: Build complex real-time cinematic scenes, ensuring camera placement, staging, and overall visual composition are optimized for storytelling.
  • Advanced Material and Lighting: Develop high-quality materials, shaders, and lighting setups to enhance both the aesthetic quality and performance of cinematic scenes.
  • Visual Effects and Animation: Implement real-time visual effects and basic animations that bring scenes to life, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into cinematics.
  • Content Optimization: Work collaboratively to optimize content for multiple platforms while maintaining high visual quality and performance.
  • Cinematic Direction: Operate Unreal Engine’s Sequencer to manage cameras, apply camera animation techniques, and design compelling narrative experiences.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with other creative teams to solve technical challenges, ensuring high-quality real-time and cinematic visuals.

What We're Looking For

  • Diverse Portfolio: Demonstrates a wide range of creative and technical skills in cinematic, real-time content creation, with a strong background in layout and previz workflows.
  • Technical Expertise: Mastery of Unreal Engine 5, including layout design, shading, lighting techniques, and real-time VFX creation.
  • Previz and Layout Skills: Strong experience in previsualization workflows, including scene blocking, camera setup, shot planning, and layout design for cinematic storytelling.
  • Cinematic and Visual Storytelling: A deep understanding of composition, lighting, camera work, and color theory, with the ability to apply these principles in both cinematic and real-time environments.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Proficiency: Familiarity with tools like Maya, 3ds Max, and Adobe in game production or post-production is a major plus.
  • Creative Problem Solver: Proven ability to solve technical and design challenges in a fast-paced production environment.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Mentorship: Support junior team members by sharing knowledge and best practices in layout, previz, and generalist workflows.
  • Feedback Implementation: Work with the Art Director and Cinematic Team Lead to iterate on feedback and refine production pipelines.
  • Collaborative Production: Work with cross-functional teams to create high quality assets, layouts, and previz for real-time and cinematic content.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 6+ years as a technical artist or generalist, with experience in layout and previsualization using Unreal Engine 5. Previous experience with cinematic content production is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in Unreal Engine 5, including shading, lighting, material development, previz, and layout for cinematic and real-time content.
  • VFX Experience: Experience in creating real-time VFX for virtual production and a deep understanding of layout, previz, and real-time pipelines.
  • Artistic and Technical Proficiency: Proven ability to create both photorealistic and stylized environments, with a strong understanding of artistic and technical elements in layout and previz.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across layout, previz, and technical teams.
  • Problem Solver: Ability to stay on the leading edge of software, eager to adopt and implement new technologies quickly.
