As the Finance Manager, you will join Koru's HQ Team, reporting directly to the Controller. The objective of the finance team is to partner effectively with our ventures and act as a trusted resource on financial matters.

The Finance Manager will be involved in standing up the financial operations of our ventures - including the onboarding and management of outsourced accounting teams.

 The Finance Manager will also be involved in portfolio management and oversight - frequently interacting with ventures to support and resolve various challenging topics. The finance team is responsible for ensuring that Koru and its ventures meet their reporting and compliance requirements - including investor reporting, audits, valuations, and tax.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement finance stand-up activities - including the creation of bank accounts, tax registrations, accounting workflows, SaaS integrations, payroll, internal controls and policies
  • Work closely with venture management to onboard them onto financial processes and establish KPIs
  • Manage outsourced accounting teams to support and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and tax submissions
  • Identify and engage key strategic partners for finance, tax, audit, accounting in new jurisdictions
  • Steer the financial statement preparation and audit processes
  • Prepare quarterly board reporting materials - including budget vs actuals, venture performance scorecards, valuation and investment updates
  • Coordinate the annual valuations process for Koru and its portfolio, working closely with the valuation and finance teams at OTPP
  • Manage the investment and funding closes, coordinating with legal, tax, valuation, treasury, and stakeholders

Qualifications & Skills

  • Qualified CPA
  • Strong foundation (3+ years) in finance, accounting and tax - experience in financial operations, portfolio management, or accounting firm would be a bonus
  • Be Scrappy. You like to roll up your sleeves. Comfortable learning-by-doing and conducting your own research
  • High quality standards for output and attention to detail when reviewing
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to create and update financial models and templates
  • Strong Powerpoint skills, to translate financial information into effective visual communication
  • Comfortable using or learning various SaaS platforms for accounting, payroll, expenses, etc.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and complex environment, to adapt and manage changing priorities
