The role

Our company is seeking an experienced Senior Architect to lead a team of engineers to help us architect and deliver a new portal for one of our most important customers.  The initial project’s challenge is to build a best-in-class ASP.NET Blazor application for an important part of a large UK bank and is a key part of our business’s strategy in continuing to lead technological transformation in the UK mortgage industry.

You will leverage your deep knowledge of architecture (especially, but not limited to front-end architecture) and development best practices to lead our technical teams and guide the evolution of our products, collaborating with various stakeholders both within and outside our company, ensuring the project’s success.

  • Front-End Product Architecture: Lead the design and architecture of our front-end applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. Define and implement best practices for modular, extensible, and maintainable software using ASP.NET Blazor.
  • APIs/Services Authoring: Experience in authoring APIs/Services and middleware. Implement strategies for load balancing, caching, and optimisation.
  • Automated Unit Testing: Implement automated unit testing to ensure the reliability and robustness of our applications.
  • Cloud Expertise: Utilize your expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS / Azure / Google Cloud) to architect solutions that leverage cloud-native services effectively. Optimise cost, performance, and scalability on cloud environments.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Development Best Practices: Establish and enforce development best practices, coding standards, and architecture guidelines. Promote continuous improvement and innovation within the development process.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure that security and compliance considerations are integrated into the architectural decisions, and lead efforts to maintain the highest levels of data security and regulatory compliance.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, design documents, and guidelines.
  • Emerging Technologies: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies. Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and methodologies for potential adoption within the organization.
  • DevOps Practices: Experience in using/following DevOps or DevSecOps or CI/CD practices using Azure DevOps.

 

About you

As a Senior Architect, you'll lead the design and architecture of our front-end applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. Your expertise in ASP.NET Blazor and cloud platforms will be instrumental in guiding our technical teams and shaping the evolution of our products. Let's delve into how you'll contribute to our mission of innovation and excellence.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 9 years of experience as a Technical / Applications Architect, with a strong track record of architecting, designing, developing, deploying and supporting web-sites, web-applications and middleware components/services using .NET (including version 8).
  • Proven expertise in front-end architecture, with experience in ASP.NET Blazor.
  • Experience integrating with Azure API Management, Azure Active Directory, Azure AppInsights and other observability solutions within Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of development best practices, including software design patterns, code review processes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud platforms and architecture are a plus.

 

Nice to have:

  • Experience in SaaS product development.
