Who you are:
We are seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer with strong Amazon Web Services, Java, and Python experience. This position will lead a small engineering team working to take on real customer pain points. This isn’t your normal position where you may be relegated to one small piece of the company’s technology, or a project that doesn’t matter. Instead, you will be instrumental and have the chance to work in many areas of our Web and Cloud systems. Your team will be responsible for keeping our infrastructure humming as new releases and maintenance are rolled to our customers.

  • Ability to execute on most tasks with minimal customer outage windows.
  • Chances to define and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, compliance, and operations.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for troubleshooting and solving all major incidents.
  • Proven ability to understand the whole stack; load balancers to databases, application server firewalls to cache clusters, across all Amazon regions.
  • Ensure your team stays on top of emerging industry trends and technology.
  • Implement and carry out risk management and compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, ISO27001).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our production environments, assisting in development and test environments when needed.
  • Ability to understand AWS CloudFormation templates, VPN configurations, Ruby, Node.js, and Python applications.
  • Work to automate detection and resolution of recurring issues in the production environment
  • Implement, monitor, and maintain CI/CD frameworks, including experience with Chef.
  • 5+ years’ experience building, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining compute-intensive applications on Amazon AWS.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or extensive equivalent experience.
  • 3+ experience implementing CI/CD frameworks leveraging Jenkins, Git, and others.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS is required).
  • You have proficiency with Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) technology and VPNs.
  • Implement deployment and system maintenance tools like Rubber, Chef, and Capistrano.
  • You have proven experience implementing and operating redundant AWS environments, including multi-region data redundancy and fail-over.
  • You are successful leading a team of engineers and/or serving as the primary point of contact for all systems issues.
  • You respond reliably to on-call issues as needed (including ability to be on-call 24/7 one week per month)
  • Background in Linux/Unix Administration.
  • You are an excellent problem solver, and willing to roll up your sleeves to take on any issue thrown your way.
  • You demonstrate the ability to succeed in a high-pressure environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • You have excellent written and verbal skills
