Engineering Manager / Tech Lead Manager 

Who are we looking for?

At Kobalt Music we’re looking for an Engineering Manager (which we call a Tech Lead Manager) to join our London Technology team. In this role you will work closely with the Product Manager and Tech Lead with the aim of delivering efficient technology solutions and new features to a highly successful Kobalt business unit. We’re looking for engineering leaders to help scale our technology infrastructure as our customer base grows. 

Our new Tech Lead Manager will be an inspirational leader pragmatic about technology and passionate about using it to disrupt accepted norms. They’ll drive standards and increase velocity of delivery while supporting their team and be comfortable working with senior technologists and business experts. 

 

Our Tech Lead Manager will contribute by:

  • Building, managing and motivating a small to medium sized software engineering team.
  • Understanding the challenges of service-oriented architecture 
  • Develop and operate highly scalable data-centric services and web applications
  • Support the transformation to microservices and increased use of cloud technologies
  • Be a leader comfortable creating a technology roadmap based around business strategy
  • Take ownership of the Engineering team, identifying risks, dependencies and new opportunities
  • Continuously improve our software engineering practices by introducing new ideas, agile methodologies, continuous delivery and experimentation.
  • Recruit, mentor and guide new Engineers to help them reach their potential
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of new technologies, inclusion, teamwork and diversity.

 

The applications we're working on are microservices-based, hosted in AWS ECS, written primarily in Java, React, and Node and also makes use of technologies such as elasticsearch and Kafka. Our teams are product-aligned with end-to-end ownership of product features. They are agile and cross-discipline encompassing development, QA and design with input from our horizontal DevOps/SRE team that champion DevOps culture.
