Senior Financial Analyst

Job location: This position is to be hired in Ottawa.  This will be a hybrid role where you will be expected to be in the office 3 days a week.

About the team

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Financial Analyst, as a fully proficient and seasoned professional, will provide ongoing business support, financial analysis, and performance measurement to key stakeholders within the business units they support to meet our objective of maintaining continuous profitable growth. 

The SFA will focus mainly on supporting a team or number of teams within Kinaxis. They will be a trusted advisor and partner to the business and will immediately build strong and lasting relationships. A critical thinker with deep experience in forecasting, modeling, financial analysis, and management reporting, the SFA will contribute to and influence strategic business cases and will leverage their passion and expertise with data to provide trusted insight that helps drive complex and strategic investment and business decisions. 

Ultimately, our ideal candidate is proactive in understanding the needs of the business and being that true finance business partner. You are curious about KPI trends and aren’t afraid to dive into data to explore the “why” behind the trend. After finding that “why” you can clearly articulate your insights to aid business leaders in their decision making.

What you will do

  •  Data extraction and analysis to develop, prepare and present financial data, results and recommendations that are timely, accurate, reliable, and relevant for effective business decision making
  • Lead quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes for functional groups by collaborating with key stakeholders and collecting and consolidating data from relevant areas. Leverage expertise and knowledge of the business to influence decision making
  • Deeply understand the goals of the groups you are supporting and be a trusted and dedicated partner; Support their evolving business needs through financial analysis by understanding and modeling key drivers and metrics.
  • Help drive standardized operational reporting based on the lines of business; present complex financial forecasting & modeling to make strategic decisions.
  • Act as a mentor and sounding board to more junior employees on the team; share insight and experiences that contribute to the team’s success
  • Develop actionable management reporting and dashboards that clearly communicate actual performance vs. budget and key metrics.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that contribute to the evolution of our support model, including self-serve reporting.
  • Work on ad-hoc FP&A projects as needed to support FP&A team
  • Work closely with the HR Business Partner team to provide consistent communication of objectives and adjustments to the forecast

What we are looking for

·         Post secondary degree in accounting, business, or related field, with a CPA designation or an MBA preferred.

·         3-5 years post-designation experience, preferably with a global company in the technology sector with a background in FP&A being an asset

·         Proven experience being a trusted partner to key stakeholders across the business, and building strong relationships

·         Advanced problem solving skills; the ability to think critically about data and produce models and presentations that answer desired questions

·         Attention to detail, particularly in your excel sheet / financial models

·         Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex financial data and information into consumable content for various audiences, including at the executive level

·         Able to manage multiple and ever-changing priorities and working to deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment

·         Experience with accounting and financial planning systems, Netsuite and Planful are an asset
