We are looking to hire a Preconstruction Manager for our Building Group at our corporate headquarters in St. Louis, MO. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the bid process, including soliciting bids from subcontractors and suppliers, evaluating proposals, negotiating pricing and contract terms, and awarding subcontracts.
  • Request quotes from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Maintain relationships with a network of qualified subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and timely response to bid requests.
  • Engage with clients during the preconstruction phase to understand their vision, goals, and budgetary constraints.
  • Present cost estimates, value engineering options, and schedule proposals to clients in a clear and transparent manner.
  • Address client concerns and provide recommendations to optimize project outcomes.
  • Foster collaboration and communication among internal team members, subcontractors, and external stakeholders throughout the preconstruction phase.
  • Ensure alignment between estimating, scheduling, design, and procurement efforts to streamline execution.
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with the project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize project disruptions.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to ensure accuracy and completeness during the preconstruction phase.
  • Coordinate with the design team to address discrepancies or omissions and incorporate necessary revisions.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies related to preconstruction management.
  • Client development and management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years' in the construction, engineering, design-build, or related industries performing the similar primary responsibilities listed.
  • Strong leadership and management skills in directing an organization, department, or group.
  • Advanced with Microsoft Office Suite including excel and estimating database software
  • Advanced knowledge of construction takeoff programs
  • Advanced knowledge of bid solicitation software
  • Systematic planner who attends to details with accuracy and focus
  • Team oriented
