The Role:

The Associate Manager of Accounting will report directly to the Senior Manager of Accounting and support the North America General Ledger (GL) team at KAYAK/OpenTable. The primary responsibilities will be to work with the team on the monthly close process, perform variance analysis, manage two direct reports, and continuously improve processes. We're looking for someone with a solid understanding of US GAAP, who displays a strong sense of ownership and accountability, and who possesses an eagerness to learn and execute. This role provides an excellent opportunity for growth and for someone who has excellent problem-solving skills, strong communications, and enjoys working in a challenging, fast-paced environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist in managing the monthly close process for the North America GL team
  • Manage several different accounting areas including but not limited to: cash, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, professional fees, payroll and commission entries and accruals
  • Oversee and manage payroll accounting and liaise with the Payroll team
  • Review and analyze monthly financial statements for the relevant areas of responsibility
  • Assist in preparation and review of monthly balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analyses  for the relevant areas of responsibility
  • Manage two direct reports by reviewing their work, providing timely feedback and supporting their career growth
  • Review monthly, quarterly and annual balance sheet reconciliations in FloQast, our close management system    
  • Provide suggestions for improvement to maximize accuracy and efficiency
  • Assist with various ad hoc projects and implement suggested improvements

Please apply if you have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
  • 5+ years experience in industry and/or public accounting (Big 4 experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage at least one direct report
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, including task prioritization and effective time management
  • Excitement to actively participate in projects to standardize and improve processes
  • The ability to prioritize and lead multiple tasks to meet deadlines, and are solution focused 
  • NetSuite accounting software experience (a plus)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (vlookup, pivot tables, etc.) (preferred)

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. The range for this United States-located role is $115,000-$130,000.

In addition to a competitive base salary, roles are eligible for additional compensation and benefits including annual cash bonus; health benefits; flexible spending account; retirement benefits; life insurance; paid time off (including PTO, paid sick leave, medical leave, bereavement leave, floating holidays and paid holidays); and parental leave and benefits.
