KAYAK is looking for a senior engineer to be part one of our backend teams. Our team is constantly iterating, designing, and coding our way to excellence. We integrate with over 200 travel partners and link to over 500,000 hotels and 550 airlines. You will be an essential part of a high powered team that keeps all of this running smoothly – helping millions of people find the best hotels and the best ways to fly from A to B every day! A solid senior software engineer with a willingness to learn and comfortable in a fast paced startup environment.
Hands on, self-starter with little to no mentoring and self-motivated.
Team player who likes to engage with colleagues at a professional and personal level.
Must have excellent technical communication skills.
Implement new backend search and booking features.
Improve existing features with an eye towards speed and user experience.
Create and maintain existing integrations with third-party APIs.
Handle a high volume of requests and prioritize their own work while taking infrastructure and business needs into account.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
5+ years experience
Java (multi-threaded experience or course-related projects)
Must have knowledge of HTTP, SOAP, REST.
Must have knowledge of SQL with MySQL/Hive/Hadoop/Snowflake a plus.
Ability to debug issues in a full-stack environment.
AWS, MySQL, Git, Tomcat, Apache, Kafka, Elastic Stack
