The role:

Lead ESG Reporting & Special Projects Coordination across all sectors (Consumer Care, Salon, Molton Brown), with goal to ensure excellence in ESG/Sustainability governance.  Act as THE ESG Data Reporting expert across all sectors and cross-functional teams.

Lead projects to define and implement future required infrastructure in collaboration with IT and other functions to execute any ESG-strategies affecting packaging components, chemicals, finished goods, logistic and production in AEMEA operations.

Act as the central “go to” and single point of contact for any key regular AEMEA ESG/Sustainability reporting, including leading the project management and coordination of this reporting across cross-functional teams.  Includes mandatory data reporting requirements as well as voluntary data reporting opportunities, which can increase the profile of Kao products, brands or company (AEMEA wide).

Key contact person for any external environmental reporting related audits. Coordinate any necessary internal trainings to provide necessary information to pass external audits.  Support Department Head in special ESG-related projects and in heightening the importance, focus and efforts on ESG within the entire organization.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Darmstadt (hybrid working model).

What you will do:

  • Lead ESG Reporting & Special Projects to define and implement required future infrastructure in collaboration with IT and other functions to execute any Mandatory Data Reporting Requirements affecting packaging components, chemicals, finished goods, logistic and production in AEMEA operations. Identify reporting requirement data needs, determine what departments and individuals within the organization (within AEMEA and/or Japan Headquarters) can best supply the data needs, coordinate all aspects of the data gathering and reporting across all contributing parties. Strongly aim to reduce the burden and workload across the cross-functional teams and data contributors via highly efficient and streamlined processes.  Ensure all data reporting milestones and deliverables timelines are held.  Feed reoccurring types of data needs into IT, in order to promote having such data become readily available in the future.
  • Lead ESG Reporting & Special Projects to define and implement required future infrastructure in collaboration with IT and other functions to execute all Voluntary Data Reporting Opportunities, which can increase the profile of Kao products, brands or company (AEMEA wide).  Investigate voluntary programs and recommend participation in those programs which are deemed to benefit the business.  Determine what departments within the organization (within AEMEA and/or Japan Headquarters) can best supply the data needs, coordinate all aspects of the data gathering and reporting across all contributing parties.  Strongly aim to reduce the burden and workload across the cross-functional teams and data contributors via highly efficient and streamlined processes
  • Develop excellence in building a library depository for archiving past data reporting and reporting processes, in order to streamline future retrieval for same or similar data inquiries, thereby building great and greater efficiencies over time.
  • Seek out and anticipate potential future data needs, by following ESG trends and regulatory changes.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor Degree - ideally with technical or computer science background  
  • 5+ years work experience in technical and or data intensive areas.  High level of experience in working across different data bases.  Strong attention to detail.  Strong capabilities with retrieving, evaluating, managing and archiving high levels of data.  Very strong project leadership and coordination skills working across many cross-functional teams.  Strong teamwork and collaboration. Prior pan-regional experience (i.e.: AEMEA).  Prior Sustainability/ESG experience is a strong plus. 
  • Fluency in English, additional languages desirable
  • Strong passion for project coordination across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong passion for data and data reporting, with desire for achieving excellence in this area.
