As KANOA'S Director of Engineering you will be expected to manage the engineering program for a fast paced downtown San Francisco based startup targeting to set a new standard in the hearable market. First product launch this year with a roadmap toward leadership in a market expected to grow over $40B in 3 years.   As the Director of Engineering you will be responsible for the coordination and leadership of all engineering activities including miniaturized wearable electronics, custom RF and antenna design, custom acoustics, industrial design, mechanical engineering, embedded firmware, and outsourced mobile applications development. Build your team of engineering experts as we develop core competencies internally. Join our team of innovative professionals, report directly to the CEO, and become a stake holder in the delivery of compelling products. 

The ideal candidate posses the following:

Qualifications

  • 5 years of consumer product engineering management experience
  • Product engineering responsibility involving multiple engineering disciplines
  • Mechanical, electrical or software engineering background with BS or MS degree and 10+ years of experience
  • Proven product development leader with ability to successfully deliver products
  • Experience collaborating with Marketing to develop compelling solutions
  • Consumer electronics involving Bluetooth and wearables
  • Some acoustic experience
  • Structured engineering methodology including design reviews, verification testing and documentation
  • Experience launching products for offshore manufacturing
  • Small company experience
  • Scrappy, out-of-the-box approach to solve industry-challenging problems.
  • Must understand PLM methodology, and change management activities.  ECO/ECR process, Life cycle management, and systems approach to controlling designs.
  • Must have a proven track record in managing program costs, and adherence to launch schedules, influencing cross functional teams and key milestones
  • Travel internationally as required
  • Ability to manage multiple product sets from design through end-of-life planning
