Let’s start with the team & role
The team:
Our Database team is responsible for the smooth operation and data quality of all databases in Betano & Stoiximan. We are one of the chapters of the company’s IT division, consisting of a number of Database Developers and Administrators ensuring that all critical database instances are active, perform well and never fail. Working on very large databases with millions of transactions per second is a challenge on it’s own; at the same time we challenge ourselves to deliver databases with advanced design, excellent performance and safety.
The role:
We are looking for a motivated Senior MS SQL Database Administrator to join our team and use her/his passion for MS SQL Server to monitor, maintain and further develop database architectures for all production applications of Betano & Stoiximan. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and understand the importance of database integrity in terms of efficiency, performance and security.
Main responsibilities:
  • Day-to-day support, monitoring, troubleshooting and administration of several MS SQL
  • databases;
  • Resolve performance issues and conduct root cause analysis;
  • Run regular batch processes/jobs for database maintenance, performance tuning and other dba tasks;
  • Establish and maintain backup and recovery policies/procedures;
  • Apply security patching and conduct version upgrade;
  • Ensure database security best practice is met;
  • Respond to issues and support calls, including security incidents;
  • Deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment that requires the ability to handle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • 4+ years hands-on production experience on MS SQL Server Database Administration;
  • Experience in supporting MS SQL Server database elements, including: Jobs Scheduling, Monitoring, Patching, Backup/Recovery, Replication, Availability Groups and Always On;
  • Experience in MS SQL Server Database Performance Tuning and Query Optimization techniques;
  • An excellent understanding and knowledge of MS SQL Server Database Development and T-SQL programming;
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written;
  • Strong skills in teamwork, communication, analytical thinking and problem solving;
  • Strong desire to keep learning and coaching the more junior colleagues.
