Job Summary
Kairos Power is offering exciting opportunities for students to join our Electrical Engineering team as an intern in Summer 2025! The internship provides a unique, hands-on experience, allowing you to contribute to design, implementation, and operation of control systems for our test reactor. In this role, you will contribute to the design of a test reactor for the development of the Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled High-Temperature Reactor (KP-FHR). You will work in a multi-disciplinary team and provides support to aspects of measurement instrumentation and automated digital system process control.
General Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and implementation of control systems for the test reactor.
- Support measurement instrumentation and automated digital system process control.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration of control systems.
- Participate in troubleshooting and optimizing control systems to enhance performance.
- Perform data collection, analysis, and documentation to support project needs.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of technical reports and presentations.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with industry trends.
- Support various engineering tasks, including testing, validation, and prototyping.
- Actively participate in team meetings, providing updates and contributing to discussions.
- Maintain clear and organized records of all work performed. cts of design and operation.

Qualifications
- Current student pursuing Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field
- Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of classroom setting through laboratory, research, extracurricular projects, personal projects, or prior internship/work experience is highly preferred
- Experience with control system software (LabVIEW, PLCs, etc.)
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles
- Experience with control system analysis and design and control systems protocols is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office application (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Self-starter, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment, including frequent interactions with cross-functional teams
- Prioritizes and ensures safety of one self and others
- Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge

The hourly range for this position is $30-34 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California.
