ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for an energetic and creative Research Assistant to join the Product Development team in the Chemistry group. The Research Assistant will execute a variety of critical product characterization testing of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS). This is an important role in furthering research & development activities at Juul Labs.The Research Assistant is a hands-on, laboratory-based role that will be responsible for helping to design internal products and novel prototypes as well as assisting with the development and execution of test methods for chemical and physical characterization. Effective collaboration with other scientists and engineers in the Juul R&D group is a must in this role as well as having proficiency with standard analytical chemistry lab equipment and methodology. We are looking for a Research Assistant who is flexible, can work well independently, and can respond quickly, energetically, and enthusiastically to new challenges. The Research Assistant will be capable of operating in a mostly autonomous fashion on day-to-day projects and tasks, with guidance from a manager or mentor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve specified goals by using established methods/technologies/frameworks with guidance from manager or mentor
  • Prepare liquid and solid formulation prototypes for analysis
  • Execute established testing protocols for product and prototype characterization
  • Operate small scale laboratory equipment to prepare testing samples and prototypes (operating pumps, balances, press-sealers, packaging equipment)
  • Maintain records and documentation on small scale batch operations
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration activities
  • Update standard operating procedures and work instructions
  • Collaborate with senior staff to develop novel analytical methodology
  • Write and present reports on experimental results
  • Assist with troubleshooting test methods and device issues

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with analytical chemistry methods and associated instrumentation (e.g. GC-FID, GC-
    MS, LC-MS, pH, Karl Fischer)
  • Experience in Formulations chemistry a plus
  • 6 months+ of experience in industry - pharma/biotech a plus
  • Working knowledge of statistics a plus
  • Programming experience a plus
  • Strong communication and documentation skills as well as the ability to work effectively with peers and management in a high-paced global environment

EDUCATION:

  • BS/MS in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field
  • Coursework in analytical and organic chemistry is preferred

SALARY RANGES:
Salary varies by role, level and location, and is dependent on the cost of labor in a given geographic region among other factors. These ranges may be modified at any time.

SALARY RANGE:
$113,000—$138,000 USD
