ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Vice President, Executive Search and Development, the Senior Director, Executive Development will be responsible for building an integrated talent development initiative that supports JUUL Labs’ business strategies and objectives. The ideal candidate is a results driven thought leader with a passion for delivering exceptional employee development experiences across a rapidly scaling, matrixed organization.

Domiciled in San Francisco, this strategic hire within the People organization requires a high degree of  integrity, vision and sound judgment. In addition, this individual will bring a demonstrated track record of relationship building and influencing across all levels. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Build the infrastructure and implement a standard framework to identify and develop JUUL Labs’ global executive pipeline (VP+). 
  • Lead the translation of JUUL Labs’ business strategy into thoughtful and innovative talent and performance management plans and objectives (e.g. workforce plans, succession planning, and talent reviews). 
  • Work alongside the Executive and People teams to fine tune the approach for assessing and developing internal high potential talent. 
  • Develop best in class onboarding experiences for executive new hires 
  • Create and deliver both leadership assessments and executive development programs 
  • Partner with the People Analytics function to deliver quality metrics that drive priorities, measure outcomes and efficacy and enable better decision-making.
  • Ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion is woven into each of JUUL Labs’ processes and programs.
  • Supervise, train and monitor performance of talent resources (i.e. direct and indirect reports, external agencies, etc.)
  • Define the competency, skill set, and attributes of the ideal JUUL leader 
  • Actively participate in and support Talent and People Partners with workforce and development planning
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, stakeholders and vendor partners. 

This senior leader will be responsible for building an integrated talent development initiative that supports JUUL’s business strategy and objectives. Important qualities in this leader include: thought leadership, results-orientation and a passion for delivering exceptional employee development experiences. Keys to success in this role include: excellent organization skills, effective at building strong relationships and influencing at all levels across the organization, ability to be both strategic and execute with great thoughtfulness and attention to detail and a dedication to delivering work of the highest caliber.

This is a key strategic role within the organization and requires a person of vision, integrity and commitment as well as substantial experience, maturity and judgment.

Build the infrastructure and a common language to identify and develop the VP+ pipeline for roles across the company; Align the organization on JUUL’s approach to assessing and developing talent; Support the identification and growth of internal leaders; Work closely with the executive team and People team; Deliver the assessment, development, and succession planning efforts; Coach leaders as needed

  • Develop world class onboarding experiences for VP+  to welcome them to our company, introduce them to our culture, and enable them to be productive and have an impact
  • Lead the translation of the company’s strategy into thoughtful and innovative talent management plans and objectives, including performance management and employee growth, leadership development, and succession planning
  • Continue the transformation of our performance management programs. This includes: quarterly growth/impact/goal conversations, feedback approach, talent review/calibration and succession planning.
  • Work in close partnership with the HR Business Partners, and Senior Leaders to determine the overall talent management needs for each organization as well as the existing initiatives/capabilities and offerings. Based on this assessment, develop an integrated strategic vision for initiatives and solutions, learning and development objectives performance measures
  • Help ensure the talent management function is a strategic partner to the business, and foster a culture of continuous learning, growth mindset and knowledge sharing.
  • Partner with the People Analytics function to deliver quality metrics that drive priorities, measure outcomes and efficacy and enable better decision-making.
  • Drive the creation of internal content and exploration of external partners, subject matter experts and available solutions to deliver on our learning objectives above.
  • Ensure a diversity, equity and inclusion lens is integrated in all our processes and programs.
  • Develop and implement workforce plans, succession plans, and talent reviews through data-driven insight
  • Encourage and foster the growth of a robust and diverse leadership pipeline internally
  • Supervise, train and monitor performance of talent resources (i.e. direct and indirect reports, external agencies, etc.)
  • Program manage key initiatives from inception through to delivery in partnership with internal and external groups
  • Develop and deliver on leadership and executive development programs and coaching
  • Define the competency, skill set, and attributes of the ideal JUUL leader
  • Manage the assessment and ongoing coaching for our VP+ population
  • Create and conduct leadership assessments to identify core leadership competencies and maintain a strong pulse on internal leaders strengths/development areas
  • Support transition planning for future roles/experience of leaders 
  • Customize and support high impact development plans to support leaders 
  • Actively participate in and support Talent and People Partners with workforce and development planning
  • Build credibility with senior leaders, critical stakeholders, and vendor partners, operating as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of strategic Human Resources, Organizational Development, Learning or related experience, gained in progressive companies with best-in-class talent management practices
  • Experience in learning strategy, analytics, performance management, talent development, and program management
  • Successful track record in building, implementing, and sustaining key talent management initiatives and showing direct, positive linkages to achievement of business strategy
  • Experience in building and delivering a broad talent management agenda with specific subject matter expertise in talent acquisition, performance management, HR Planning/Leadership Development, Learning and Development, assessment, developmental 360 and executive coaching, career planning and development.
  • Prior experience acting as global process leader across a sizeable, global business
  • Proven success in building a global, high performing team
  • Thought leadership in the areas of: leadership development, succession planning, performance management and talent development
  • Experience partnering with the CHRO to drive talent discussions with the CEO and executive leadership
  • Exhibits high levels of resourcefulness, influence, organizational savviness, execution skills (strategy through implementation) and executive presence. Must be effective at sharing ideas and information with peers and business leaders
