Strategic Planning and Analytics Associate


JUUL is seeking an associate to join the Strategy team (based in Hamburg).


The role is extremely high profile, working with key stakeholders in EMEA and US, and will have a real opportunity to influence business direction. You’ll report into the Director of Strategy, Planning and Analytics. This role is ideal for someone that has completed an analyst stint in consulting or investment banking and wants to learn more about how to run a high-growth business.


Potential projects include:


  • Analysis of company performance data and monitoring of KPIs across German market
  • Assessing competitive market dynamics and company positioning
  • Working on in-market strategic projects and ad-hoc analyses
  • Suggesting day-to-day operational business improvements rooted in a deep understanding of company performance
  • Establishing processes for cross-functional collaboration in order to derive actionable insights from data
  • Market evaluation and opportunity assessment (per-country profiles and up-to-date analysis e.g., sizing, prioritization)
  • Combining quantitative consumer data (e.g. brand tracker & segmentation, geo-sociodemographic) with sales data in order to better direct our marketing and distribution efforts to high potential areas
  • Market data consolidation, tracking and benchmarking (e.g., JUUL share)
  • Tracking competitor activity (e.g., pricing, promotion) and news (new launches)
  • Commercial strategy including pricing analysis, prioritisation of new product launches and go to market strategy


Professional qualifications


We’re looking for someone with 2-5 years’ experience in strategy consulting or equivalent (Strategy consulting, investment banking, PE/ VC, High growth start-up). You will also exhibit:


  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on attention to detail while delivering against tight deadlines
  • Confidence-inspiring presence while clearly communicating compelling messages to senior executives – even if challenging the status quo
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Demonstrated interest in the CPG, tech, or medical device industries preferred
  • High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint




  • Quantitative undergraduate degree from a top-tier institution preferred
  • MBA would be an advantage
