ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Reporting to the Advanced Technology Materials science Group, the Senior polymer engineer will develop new technologies as well as support the engineering team in development of new products. Polymer engineer should have expertise in formulation development, polymer modification, processing and characterization to make contributions towards developing and deploying novel technologies. You will join a small, yet growing, world-class team to lead or contribute to various research and development activities relating to this technology.

  • Plans and leads new product development projects and the commercialization process based on
  • project objectives in collaboration with cross-functional teams 
  • Drives scientific excellence by demonstrating best practices in research, development,
  • implementation, and execution of polymer synthesis/modification, formulation design and process improvement.
  • Identify new processing techniques, equipment and conduct experiment to qualify new
  • technology and products
  • Design, perform or supervise laboratory testing and analysis. Summarize data as per industry
  • standards and internally developed test methods
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on research projects for internal teams, management,
  • customers and technical conferences
  • Assist with the generation of intellectual property, including identifying opportunities for IP
  • disclosures and working with patent attorneys 
  • Transfer new technology to product development group for further optimization and
  • commercialization
  • Manage and train junior engineers

 PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD with 5+ years academic or industry experience in polymer engineering.
  • Focus in the areas of biopolymer/bioplastic, cellulosic materials, composite, elastomer
  • Hands-on experience in polymer modification, characterization and formulation development,
  • Knowledgeable in surface modification of inorganic or organic substrates is plus
  • Analytical experience of polymeric materials characterization (solid and solution phase)
  • In-depth knowledge of structure-property relations and materials properties; ability to design
  • materials with desired properties
  • Must possess outstanding communication (written and verbal) skills

 EDUCATION: 

  • PhD in polymer science, chemistry, chemical engineering or material science, or any other related field of study with an emphasis on formulation development, polymer modification and processing
