You will be responsible for the coordination and management of the team handling daily payroll tax processing, and other operational tasks related to payroll tax administration including, filing and depositing tax liabilities.  In addition, you will be responsible for coaching, mentoring and developing a team.

What You Will Work On

  • Help build and manage a team of Tax Operations Coordinators and Specialists
  • Scale the Tax Operations team by increasing team efficiency and working cross-functionally with Customer Support, Product and Engineering.
  • Partner with the Manager of Payroll Operations to ensure clean hand-offs and quick client resolution
  • Own and manage the operational workflow for daily tax administration processing to include the PTS and Quarterly RTS upload and reconciliation process
  • Own and manage the RTS interim process ensuring a smooth quarterend reconciliation
  • Oversee quarterly and annual filing and remittance process at the Federal and State & Local  levels, as well as the amendment process.
  • Own and manage the creation, accuracy and distribution of forms W2 and 1099 for our customers
  • Ensure that all tax deposits and filings are timely and accurate
  • Accountable for swift resolution of tax notices and other client inquiries
  • Facilitate team and individual goal setting, performance reviews, hiring, terminations and all other managerial tasks as required
  • Comfortable working directly with clients using a CRM and being an escalation point for the Tax Operations team
  • Identify pain points and remediate issues by creating processes and maintaining operational tools 
  • Communicate changes in procedures and other important updates across teams and to senior leadership
  • Establish and ensure adherence to policies and SLAs
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years hands on experience in Payroll Tax Administration
  • Prior team lead or management experience required
  • Prior Payroll Provider experience required; preferably in an early stage startup environment
  • Extensive hands on Mastertax experience required 
  • Technologically savvy; experience with utilizing multiple systems and software programs
  • Comfortable working in excel or google sheets to include, formulas, pivots, vlookups, if statements
  • Flexible and calm under pressure with an ability to thrive in a changing and complex environment
  • Work effectively within a team, yet have the ability to take initiative and work effectively on your own

The base wage range for this position based in our Tampa, FL Office is targeted 122,000 - $134,200 per year

Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location.  Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
