Handshake is hiring a Head of People Programs reporting to the Senior Director of People, on the People Team. In this role you will support the development and evolution of our People programs, ensuring that they scale along with our company while also supporting our mission, values, and goals.
This role will own HR operations, including onboarding, offboarding, L&D, internal mobility, compliance, and more. They will partner closely with the rest of the People team to ensure that our team’s strategies support organizational health and create opportunities for greater efficiency, and accuracy as we grow, while retaining the empathetic and supportive culture that we’ve worked hard to build! You will have the opportunity to build out this team in parallel with Handshake’s growth, bringing on dedicated resources to support specific focus areas for the future.
Review existing systems and processes, and develop improvements to help us scale the business across the employee lifecycle - including onboarding, orientation, employee education/training, performance management, offboarding, and other people operations functions
Strategically guide the development of internal priorities and offerings in line with the projected growth of the company and future focus areas
Partner with our HRBP's to launch company-wide programs and initiatives including performance management, compensation reviews, while always thinking about how we can scale these programs
Build and develop a team of People Operations coordinators and specialists to help support People Programs and overall company goals.
Ensure our People Team processes comply with applicable state and federal laws and regulations
Partner with our Talent team to help launch essential programs (Intern program, apprenticeships, etc)
5+ years of HR experience, and previous experience (2-3 years) managing multiple people programs or a People Operations department (preferably through scale)
Deep expertise in 1-2 HR focus areas (L&D, immigration, compliance, onboarding/offboarding, people analytics, etc).
Experience growing and developing a small team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in employee education and information sharing and an ability to clearly articulate the what, why, and how for all employee groups
Comfort in working with ambiguity; proactively looking for ways to improve the ways we do work, with a bias towards action that can be shared across the team
