About the Position 

We are looking for an Advisory Compliance Officer to join our Hong Kong team. You will work closely with internal business groups to identify, advise, analyze and resolve regulatory reporting and compliance issues relating to Jane Street’s Asian Business. This role will include training and advising internal parties on a range of compliance matters, and would best suit someone with previous experience in legal, compliance or regulatory consultancy within the financial sector, ideally with exposure to electronic trading at a liquidity provider, broker, or investment bank.

Additional responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Staying up to date with the latest regulatory changes and developments in APAC on topics including but not limited to trade surveillance, derivatives, and both on-exchange and OTC trading
  • Analyzing existing and new business regulations, providing advice on their potential impact for the firm and formulating clear business requirements or processes in response
  • Providing compliance-related guidance and advice to internal teams (including salespeople and traders) 
  • Liaising with regulators and stakeholders to address ongoing compliance issues or queries
  • Developing and administering on-demand and regular compliance training programs for internal clients
  • Assisting the Advisory Compliance Team with trading flow-related issues and tasks
  • Drafting and updating policies and procedures in line with changes to regulatory requirements to capture new kinds of activity

About You 

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in legal, compliance or regulatory consultancy within the financial sector
  • Is pragmatic and practical when it comes to risk; understands the importance of providing rational solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; communicates clearly and able to explain conclusions clearly to colleagues across the firm 
  • Proactive, self-motivated, responsible and detail-oriented
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Able to manage competing priorities in a challenging and fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in Asian languages (such as Chinese) is a plus
