About the Position

We are looking for a strategic Telecom (Telco) Engineer with a strong understanding of capacity, demand management and telecom operations who can help us shape the direction of Telco at Jane Street and our larger network infrastructure.

Our numerous distributed systems are built on a reliable, multi-vendor network infrastructure that supports all traffic profiles, from trading to internet connectivity. These systems are critical to our daily business — they connect our people worldwide and keep us growing. We are almost always working on expansions, new builds and additional connectivity, all while supporting a network that meets a 100% uptime requirement. We think a lot about integration, resilience and capacity, and our goal is to do our work so smoothly that users never notice.

We will rely on your expertise and existing Telco relationships to create the blueprint for our Telco systems based on future needs and current usage. You’ll work closely with our traders, engineers, developers and systems teams to identify their needs and help them explore options on the latest, cutting-edge Telco offerings in terms of geo-diversity, cost, latency, throughput and improved tooling.

Managing projects and relationships with service providers is a key part of this role. You will be responsible for ensuring that carriers meet their service-level agreements and proactively keep Jane Street aware of their newest available routes.

About You

  • Experienced with capacity planning and demand management within a Telco context
  • Has solid relationships and contacts with Telco providers globally
  • Strong project manager with a proven record of managing complex telecom projects
  • Has strong experience with connectivity procurement, implementation, operations and management
  • Has an excellent understanding of the Telco market and future trends
  • Clear communicator; able to collaborate effectively with traders, systems engineers, developers and network and data centre engineers
  • A strategic thinker who can execute day-to-day tasks while building towards our long-term vision
  • A flexible and reliable team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in English is required; the ability to read and write in other Asian languages (e.g., Cantonese or Mandarin) is preferred
