About the Position

We’re looking for a passionate Purple-focused Cybersecurity Engineer to help bolster Jane Street’s defences and protect our people, data and infrastructure.

You will work with a range of teams to identify and help resolve security issues and control deficiencies. The role is broad and includes both using your hands-on offensive background to uncover and resolve existing vulnerabilities that may have slipped by us, and also helping to prevent vulnerabilities in solutions before they are even set up.

This is a technical and people-facing role. You should be comfortable both discovering issues by talking to someone who understands a system but not what a malicious actor might be capable of doing, and diving into the nitty gritty, building bespoke solutions and coming up with creative answers to help address concerns.

As a member of the Cybersecurity team, you’ll join a skilled group of programmers and security experts dedicated to keeping the firm safe. The scope of our work is wide, and touches everything from software engineering and DevOps to risk analysis, security governance and cyber awareness.

We’re open to both junior candidates and those who are more established in the field.

About You

  • Has a deep background in offensive security
  • Can help build and implement secure solutions from the ground up
  • Equally comfortable breaking down complex problems on a whiteboard and taking a hands-on approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting
  • An excellent communicator who thrives on talking to people and building relationships; a collaborative mindset is a must
  • Experienced with Linux — you know your way around a terminal and are confident in your scripting ability
  • Comfortable taking accountability and able to document your decision-making rationale
  • Proficiency in any programming language is a plus
  • Fluency in English required
