About the Position
We’re looking to hire a Commodities Specialist who has deep experience in fundamentals research and familiarity with the Chinese commodities market. This position will be based out of our Hong Kong office, but will have the opportunity to travel often and collaborate with teams across our global offices.
We’re looking for someone who has experience with non-ferrous metals, iron, steel, coal, and other commodities that are disproportionately driven by the Chinese market — and is eager to hit the ground running to share and implement their ideas. You’ll work closely with traders to research and deploy strategies that will make our work stronger, and expand the firm’s trading of Chinese commodities futures in the years to come.
This role is best suited for someone who’s eager to dig deep into complex problems to find the smartest solutions. If you’ve worked in the commodities space before, you may be surprised by how much you’ll be plugged into the everyday business of the wider firm. We don’t work in siloes and our environment is overly collaborative. You’ll be able to see your fundamentals research translate directly into real trades that are made every day.
About You
- 3+ years of relevant experience in the China commodities market
- Experience executing your own code (previous experience with Python is not required, but a plus)
- Strong quantitative research skills, with the ability to turn your findings into concrete trading strategies
- Intellectually curious and eager to learn
- Enjoys helping people and solving problems
- Communicates clearly with colleagues and external partners
- Has the desire to be a team leader and collaborate with colleagues across several departments and geographic regions
- Able to motivate and mentor colleagues; eager to teach others what you know
- Can think strategically and turn ideas into action
- Fluency in English and Mandarin required
