We are looking for a Merger & Acquisition (M&A) Accountant to join our team at iRely, a software company specializing in ERP and accounting solutions for commodity-based businesses. 

This role is open in Bengaluru, India or Makati City, Philippines

The M&A Accountant will report directly to the Controller in the US and will play a crucial role in evaluating potential acquisitions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards.

This position requires international travel and on-site visits to review the accounting statements and processes of companies that might be brought into our company. Additionally, the M&A Accountant will assist and backup the general staff accountant as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site visits to potential acquisition targets to review and analyze their accounting statements, processes, and financial health.
  • Understand internal financial reporting and needs and be able to communicate and address the disparities between acquisition targets’ reporting and our own needs.
  • Collaborate with the internal and external accounting & finance teams to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Assist in market research and analysis of potential acquisition targets or market expansions, working with other members of the accounting & finance team.
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams where needed to provide and verify financial reports.
  • Collaborate with the Controller on various reporting and analysis tasks, including generating new reporting and analyzing the financials of acquisition targets.
  • Assist and back-up the general staff accountant in their duties as needed such as preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements, assist in providing Profit & Loss statements to different functional leaders, etc.
  • Facilitate training sessions and communication with the Controller & CFO, working mid-shift as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP and IFRS, and financial statements.
  • Strong grasp of Excel fundamentals as well as familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of general accounting software, particularly web-hosted ERP solutions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting for software businesses is a plus. An understanding of service-based, B2B accounting is necessary.
  • Higher-level proficiency in Excel tools such as OfficeScript, PowerQuery, and/or VBA is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and conduct on-site visits.
