Position Overview

The primary role of the Software Architect is to provide hands-on architecture leadership, guidance and mentoring to Intelex’s engineering teams, be a close collaborator and trusted advisor to the Chief Architect, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, resilient, robust and scalable solutions. 

Responsibilities and Deliverables


  • Overall responsibility for technical architecture and design of the feature, product sub-system
  • Responsible for ensuring overall design goals are met
  • Deliver clear, well-communicated and complete design documents
  • Collaborate effectively with other technology teams and architects to solve complex problems spanning their respective areas
  • Continuously keep an eye on and experiment with the latest cutting-edge technologies; seeking opportunities to leverage them in our product  
  • Collaborate with the product, engineering, operations and support teams to assist with defining technical solutions, recommend approaches and measurable results
  • Lead engineering efforts from raw idea to deployed solution by utilizing variety of technologies, tools and languages
  • Responsible for defending technical decisions for the product or product sub-system for which has oversight
  • Code review at macro level to ensure application consistency
  • Through example and training, help team leads and developers on the teams raise their level of technical competence


  • Produce standardized and detailed technical specifications
  • Review requirements and provide estimates for development work, if needed
  • Contribute to overall application design
  • Responsible for committed code
  • Follow existing development practices including technical design, coding, unit testing and documenting
  • Maintain, improve and development tools and practices
  • Develop integration and automated unit tests
  • Perform testing on their own code to ensure quality of their work prior to handing it to QA
  • Peer review work
  • Cooperate with architects and developers within the team and in other teams
  • Collaborate with QA both on reported issues and new features development
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Work within time constraints to meet deadlines. Identify and communicate issues within project deliveries
  • Help team complete tasks they are committed to
  • Take active role in their SCRUM team activities (estimation, planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, show and tells)
  • Provide ownership for a set of features within the larger product
  • Code and design review team’s work
  • Follow and ensure that development practices and process are being followed including designing, coding, unit testing, non-functional verification and documenting
  • Provide technical leadership by improving the development and engineering processes
  • Analyze risks and compromises
  • Review and propose changes to existing processes in order to make them more efficient
  • Perform release management tasks when needed
  • Advocate and support Intelex processes


  • Guide and mentor engineers to foster highly technical and technology excellence culture
  • Work with team(s) of engineers, providing technical vision and road map for feature, product or product sub-system

Technical Competencies


  • Solid understanding of domain driven design principles, object-oriented programming concepts, design patterns, data structures and algorithms
  • Knowledge of including  one or more of the following: multi-threaded, multi-tiered, service oriented, event-based, micro-service and distributed architectures
  • Expertise applying both architectural and implementation patterns in  either web, mobile and data application design
  • Strong understanding of non-functional behaviors, including (but not limited to) performance, scalability / resource utilization, resiliency & security, high availability
  • Good understanding of infrastructure architecture, container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.), Azure, AWS, Google cloud
  • Advanced expertise in the languages & tools & frameworks used by developers, including but not limited to .NET/Java, React, JavaScript, Python


  • Strong domain knowledge in platform & application architecture
  • Deep understanding and proven experience of architecting multi-tenant, SaaS, cloud-based applications
  • Strong understanding of data architecture patterns, data pipelines, relational and document database technologies covering design, queries, transactions, stored procedures, triggers, constraints, synchronization and optimizations.


  • Required

    • Seven or more years of web applications development experience 
    • Three or more years of experience in a senior developer, tech lead role
    • Professional experience within an agile development practice strongly preferred


    • Professional experience within a software product or SaaS organization preferred


  • Technical trainings – architecture, cloud, mobile, security related are valued
  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience
  • Master’s Degree and/or vendor certifications (such as Microsoft Certified Professional) valued
