ICER is looking to expand its team, which includes a diverse set of clinicians, researchers, and policy experts. We are seeking a Research Assistant, Health Economics to assist with the health technology assessment activities that serve as the backbone for all our work. Details on the specific responsibilities and minimum qualifications are provided below.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Senior Vice President for Health Economics, as well as other members of the Health Economics team, the Research Assistant will participate in multiple scientific activities, including:

  • Assist with the identification of economic and epidemiologic information from published studies and other data sources to support analyses of cost-effectiveness and budgetary impact of health interventions
  • Manage access to databases with relevant information on pharmaceutical pricing, cost-effectiveness, and other data as available
  • Conduct stress tests, quality checks, programming code review, and other debugging activities for cost-effectiveness analyses developed by ICER’s internal team and external collaborators
  • Use outputs from ICER’s cost-effectiveness models to conduct analyses of the potential budgetary impact of the intervention under study
  • Produce evidence tables summarizing evidence for use in cost-effectiveness and/or budgetary impact analyses
  • Assist with the development of summary tables and graphics for inclusion in reports
  • Perform editing, writing, formatting, and proofreading activities for presentations, reports, and other disseminations of report findings
  • Facilitate the translation of models into ICER’s interactive modeler platform

Qualifications

Applicants are generally early in their careers (0 – 2 years post-graduation), possess a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree also accepted), and have an interest in the field of Health Economics.

  • Bachelor’s degree; coursework in statistics, mathematics, economics, or other quantitative degree that demonstrates analytical aptitude
  • The highest levels of personal initiative, attention to detail, and independent work
  • Excellent organizational as well as written and oral communication skills
  • Word processing, spreadsheet, and PowerPoint experience is required
  • Experience with techniques of qualitative and quantitative evidence synthesis in a health technology assessment environment (including cost-effectiveness analysis) a plus
  • Experience with economic simulation modeling platforms (e.g., Excel, R, TreeAge) and/or statistical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS) a plus
