A core contributing factor to the influence Instiglio has had thus far includes our collaborative, highly skilled and diverse team. We are a team of 60+ people, representing 15+ nationalities, with offices in Colombia, Kenya, Morocco and the USA. Our team of practitioners has extensive development and government experience, including previous roles in international development banks, national governments, multilateral agencies, INGOs and academia.

Crucial to our external brand positioning strategy is to influence the global development movement by demonstrating the impact of our work and pushing for transformational change for greater outcomes. The overall mission is to scale our impact and improve the lives of over 26 million citizens in the next five years by advocating for more effectiveness through incentivizing impact; influencing donors and development partners to redirect large-scale funding to innovation and strengthening delivery systems; accelerating the uptake of evidence; and empowering a critical mass of people including champions in governments and civil service to bring greater effectiveness to the use of public and development finance. 

To support us in achieving our goals, we are looking for a passionate, ambitious, and creative communications professional with strong skills in managing digital communication channels (i.e., website and social media), compelling and creative storytelling skills, and developing digital content for engagement with different audiences. In this role, you will work in close collaboration with members of the Communications and Fundraising, our Knowledge and Empowerment Hub (Strategic Pillar 2) team, and our Business Development teams to execute the communication and brand strategy through cross-functional interactions with the senior leadership team (Partners), services teams (HR, Finance, Operations), and our client-facing team(Projects).

Reporting to both the Strategic Communications & Fundraising Senior Associate and Communications Associate based in Nairobi and Bogotá respectively, the responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to executing Instiglio’s brand and digital media strategy to position itself strategically to key internal and external audiences across all channels, including digital (website, social media, and email marketing), print, media, events, and conferences.
    • Develop a well-thought-out digital content plan for engagement activities with established key performance indicators and metrics to measure the effectiveness of the digital brand communication strategy efforts.
    • Maintain, update, and manage the organizational website regularly with new and current project impact stories, publications, and opportunities at Instiglio, and ensure the website aligns with the brand strategy.
    • Support Instiglio’s flagship projects by crafting and executing online campaigns. 
    • Produce Instiglio’s weekly internal e-newsletter and quarterly external e-newsletter.
    • Track and report data analytics, leveraging insights to inform the digital strategy and support decision-making for our global audiences and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to content creation in English and French that pitch Instiglio’s work and impact to different external audiences (impact stories, targeted pitches, grant applications, press releases, project descriptions, talking points, external articles, policy briefs, annual reports, etc.)
  • Support the rollout of internal communications initiatives such as brand guidelines to empower Instiglio’s global team to become effective brand ambassadors united through a consistent, relevant, and impactful voice.
  • Provide support to our People and Talent Acquisition team in creating visual and written content for recruitment outreach efforts in line with our employee brand value proposition and organizational culture. 

Who you are

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • At least 2-3 years in development communications & experience and background in international development, NGO or philanthropy sector.
  • Knowledge and specific experience:
    • Digital media capabilities and understanding of various platforms.
    • Understanding email marketing platforms and search engine optimization (SEO), including running digital Ads (i.e., Google Ads and Paid Ads).
    • Knowledge of digital platforms data collection, insights, and analysis.
    • Writing or translating complex terms into easy-to-understand concepts.
  • Knowledge of software:
    • Advanced skills in all Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word), SharePoint, Canva, and Adobe Suite (Illustrator and InDesign - preferred).
  • Languages:
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (C1) and French (C2).
  • Skills:
    • A team player, highly organized, proactive, and resourceful.
    • Proficiency in creating engaging online content tailored for different platforms and audiences.
    • Ability to manage different tasks while maintaining high-quality output with exceptional attention to detail.
    • Strong structured thinking and analytical skills.
    • Ability to work comfortably and communicate effectively in a multinational, culturally diverse, and virtual environment, both written and verbal.
    • Willingness to learn and grow.

Working model and benefits

The incumbent will be based in our Rabat, Morocco office. Instiglio has adopted a hybrid working model, i.e., at least two (2) days a week at the office for face-to-face connections.
