Your Role
As a Software Development Engineer in Test-II (Automation), you will be responsible for designing and implementing automated testing frameworks, developing test strategies, and ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize test cases, conduct comprehensive testing, and drive continuous improvement of our testing and automation processes. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality automation solutions.
A Day in the Life
- Collaborate with software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand product requirements and translate them into test strategies and plans.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks, tools, and test suites to ensure efficient and reliable software testing.
- Write and execute complex automation test cases, perform thorough regression testing, and analyze automation test results to identify and report defects.
- Collaborate with development teams to promote testability, provide input on architectural design, and implement testability features.
- Conduct performance, load, and stress testing to evaluate system performance and scalability.
- Identify areas for test process improvement, drive test automation initiatives, and implement best practices to enhance overall testing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex technical issues, working closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Collaborate with QA engineers to establish and enforce quality standards, processes, and guidelines throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members, assisting in their professional growth and development.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software testing and quality assurance
- Work on new technical solutions to improve the automation framework and increase test productivity.
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree with 1-4 years of experience working as an SDET for business / technology-intensive products.
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages, such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
- Extensive experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, BDD, Robot Framework) and related tools.
- Proficiency in building and maintaining automated test scripts, test suites, and test data.
- Solid understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo, GitLab CI/CD).
- Good knowledge of SQL query writing and overview of Kafka, Kubernetes, and Dockerisation.
- Knowledge of API testing tools and techniques, such as karate, REST Assured, or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex issues and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
