Building a new company in the recession of 2007 was no ordinary task. Yet with passion and foresight, we charted our course, helping to transform the way consumers engage with their phones.

Over the last 17 years, InMobi has built a global Advertising Platform that powers our customers’ growth by helping them engage their audiences and drive real connections.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE 3) - Backend to join our dynamic team. As an SDE 3, one will play a pivotal role in designing and building large-scale distributed systems and backend services. One will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop robust and scalable solutions that drive our products and services.

What will you be doing?

  • Design, develop, and maintain massively large-scale distributed internet systems and backend services.
  • Lead the architecture and design of high scale app backends and microservices, including load balancers, proxies, caches, CDNs, messaging systems, and serverless compute (e.g., lambda).
  • Improve the efficiency, scalability, and stability of distributed systems and service backends.
  • Analyze system performance and implement performance tuning, optimization, and scalability enhancements.
  • Collaborate with product managers, front-end engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features and services.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our systems remain cutting-edge.

What is expected out of you?

  • Education: BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience:
    • 6+ years of strong product development experience in building large-scale distributed internet systems and products.
    • Hands-on experience with programming languages like Java.
    • Proven experience with frameworks such as gRPC, Netty, Istio, Spring Web Flux, Kotlin, etc., is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, including scalability, elasticity, availability, and fault-tolerance.
    • Experience in analyzing and improving the efficiency, scalability, and stability of distributed systems and service backends.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proven performer and team player who enjoys challenging assignments in a high-energy, fast-growing start-up environment.
  • Self-starter who can work well with minimal guidance in a fluid environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Agility and ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements, scope, and priorities.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working on large-scale data-driven systems in production environments.
  • Experience in performance and cost optimization, tracing, and debugging.
  • Experience leveraging user data for behavioral targeting.
  • Knowledge of anomaly/outlier detection, demand forecasting models, recommendation systems, personalization, and ranking models.
  • Experience building products powered by data and insights.
