Indigo is developing microbiome-based agricultural solutions to improve crop yields with sustainable products derived from plant microbiomes. The primary function of this role will be to support the discovery screening pipeline for the identification of microbial strains that provide benefit in our plant based assays. The discovered strains will continue to enrich the pipeline and result in commercial products.



  • Develop and optimize in vitro and in planta assays to reveal desirable plant phenotypes in various crops in response to environmental stress (drought, salinity, cold)
  • Manage the pipeline operation for assays in multiple crops to generate a large number of high performing candidates
  • In collaboration with Data Sciences continually improve the screening assay predictability



  • PhD degree and preferably 2-3 years academic and/or industrial experience in one or more areas related to plant biology, plant-microbe interactions or environmental microbiology
  • Experience in a biotech setting preferred
  • Ample experience setting up plant assays to measure responses to and abiotic stresses
  • Familiar and proficient with growth chamber and greenhouse assay setup
  • Experience with R or python for data analysis
  • Data visualization and analysis
  • Experience working with large data sets
  • Organized, methodical, and meticulous
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
