Objective

Indigo is developing microbiome-based agricultural solutions to improve crop yields with sustainable products derived from plant microbiomes. The primary objective of this position in Product Science Resources Team will be to work on the plant-microbe interactions to understand mode of action and how is microbial performance affected by multiple variables (e.g. plant microbiome, environment, plant genotypes) with the goal of improvement of prediction of product performance.

Outcomes

  • Understand plant-microbe interactions from molecular, biochemical and genetical aspects
  • Understand treatment impacts on agronomical traits and have knowledge of crop cultivation and plant developmental stages and physiology
  • Design/update and implement assays that will allow Indigo to effectively evaluate new products in our pipeline and support mode of action studies especially for water and nutrient use efficiency
  • Enrich the flow of product candidates with desired characteristics and improve performance predictability
  • Excellent at experimental plan, design, data capture, analysis, and communication while creating a data asset

Competencies

  Ph.D. and minimum of 5 years of post-PhD academic or industrial experience in plant biology

  • Recognized for leadership in one of more areas of their scientific work
  • Expertise in plant-microbe systems, especially crop plants
  • Deep knowledge of any of the following disciplines: plant genetics, plant biology/physiology, plant pathology and microbiology, systems biology, microbial association networks/microbiome structure and/or plant metabolism, agronomy
  • Experience in assay development and complex experimental designs
  • Data visualization and analysis
  • Experience working with large data sets
  • Statistical analysis and use of R highly desirable
  • Organized, methodical, and attention to detail required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
