The role of the Head of Regenerative Agronomy is to develop world-class, scalable regenerative practice implementation advisory services, personally aid carbon pilot growers with their implementation as well as build and lead a team of Indigo Regenerative Agronomists. The Head of Regenerative Agronomy will have the opportunity to work with a group of forward-thinking growers that want to sequester carbon in their soils by converting to regenerative agricultural practices that may or may not yet have planted Indigo product on their fields. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Development of regenerative ag training modules and their implementation/roll-out through hands-dirty, on-farm advice as well as group trainings of growers and Indigo staff. People leadership of in-country regen ag and other technical staff. The Head of Regen Ag will get the opportunity to help growers succeed financially while promoting sustainable, regenerative farming practices that are good for the environment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Build grower-facing regen ag training modules and a scalable European roll-out plan for Indigo Carbon technical advice
  • Personally help carbon pilot growers with the successful implementation of regen practices and train European Regen Ag Agronomists
  • Lead grower-facing elements of Indigo Carbon calibration, incl., but not limited to soil sampling and managing soil sampling contractors
  • Demonstrate the value of Indigo’s technology through all appropriate means including field trials (small plot and large strip)
  • Act as the technical counterpart for the commercial head of the European carbon business
  • Plans and implements European field trialing programs
  • Leads the development and/or in-sourcing of agronomic tools to assist grower decision making

 Competencies: 

  • Skillful and credible communication of agronomic/technical subjects in front of large groups of an informed audience as well as 1on1 with growers
  • Deep understanding of and 5-10 years of experience in agronomy/agronomic advice and regenerative agriculture including the implementation of specific practices, e.g. reduced tillage in at least two European countries
  • Experience with and high interest in microbial biostimulants and seed treatments as well as sustainable agriculture
  • Able to lead the development and implementation of agronomic best practices based on trial results, scientific literature and tech tools
  • Loves continual learning, agile in approach, not set in their own ways, not a “know it all”
  • Strong relationship management
  • English language skill a must; command of one or two more European languages (esp. German for carbon pilot implementation) a strong plus

 Qualifications: 

  • 5-10 years of experience in a leading agronomy role with a focus on regenerative agriculture
  • Masters or Bachelors in Agricultural Sciences with a specialization in Agronomy; PhD a plus
  • Experience with managing technical teams in Europe
  • Solid understanding of regenerative ag and managing conversion challenges (e.g. weed or pest pressure)
  • Has strong knowledge of farming, may have farming background
