The role of the Legal Director, Europe is to structure the legal framework, create and management commercial contracts, and ensure compliance across all jurisdictional legal requirements to help Indigo expand its business in Europe across the agriculture value chain. This person is expected to have a strategic mindset, couple with a “roll up the sleeves” mentality, and perform core responsibilities exceptionally, and to go above and beyond listed responsibilities to ensure team success on wide ranging projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Structure, draft, and manage all contracts required for the Indigo go-to-market strategy across multiple verticals, including sale of microbial technology, and digital platforms for the sale and purchase of agriculture commodities, and agriculture carbon credits
  • Work with Head of Europe and Commercial team to negotiate, structure and execute various key partnership agreements
  • Implement legal structure required to expand Indigo in Europe, including entity formation, obtaining necessary licenses to operate, and meeting jurisdictional and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions
  • Actively participate in the structuring, development and launch of new business model launches in Europe
  • Responsible for drafting and managing process for all Indigo Europe contracts, ranging from NDAs and employment contracts, to service agreements, and all commercial contracts
  • Implement Indigo US contract management systems to maintain contract database, and be responsible for managing the contract lifecycle management for Indigo Europe
  • Proactively identify potential legal issues, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements, and work with Tax team on structuring of European operations and business models

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of legal experience as a licensed attorney
  • In-house business legal experience required; prior experience in either of platform technologies, agriculture or grain trading a plus, but not required
  • Experience working with companies with multiple business models, and ability to multitask is key
  • Experience working with executive leadership
  • English and German language fluency required
  • Ability to be based in Basel, Switzerland office strongly preferred
