The primary objective of the contractor in the Microbial Sourcing Evaluation Team will be to aid in the identification and detection of microbial strains for use in the discovery pipeline using molecular diagnostics. The characterized strains will continue to enrich the pipeline and result in commercial products.
Perform DNA extraction from a variety of samples (e.g. plant tissue, bacterial and fungal cultures)
Accurately track DNA extractions and efficient storage of DNA in freezer
Perform cross-functional tasks including PCR and gel electrophoresis in support of all DNA core functions
Be able to coordinate the submission of samples to CROs in a timely fashion

Comfortable in fast-paced environment with aggressive timelines and deliverables, sometimes under constrained conditions
Bachelors or associate degree in biology, microbiology or other life sciences required
Experience in molecular biology techniques required, particularly single and multi-channel pipetting, reagent preparation, DNA extraction, PCR and gel electrophoresis.
Basic data management skills required
Experienced in incorporating automation into the workflow
Experience working with bacterial and fungal cultures
