PR Manager, Commercial


Indigo improves grower profitability, environmental sustainability, and consumer health through the use of natural microbiology and digital technologies. Utilizing beneficial plant microbes and agronomic insights, Indigo works with growers to sustainably produce high quality harvests. The company then connects growers and buyers directly to bring these harvests to market. Working across the supply chain, Indigo is forwarding its mission of harnessing nature to help farmers sustainably feed the planet. The company is headquartered in Boston, MA, with additional offices in Memphis, TN, Research Triangle Park, NC, Sydney, Australia, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and São Paulo, Brazil.      




Understand and articulate the category of Beneficial Agriculture and how Indigo operates within it, as well as foster a keen understanding of Indigo’s own brand voice and positioning


Build an 18-month media relations plan for Indigo’s commercial markets inclusive of agriculture press, regional outlets and local outlets, which includes key contacts, event calendar and editorial calendar


Build an 18-month relations plan for agricultural associations including association list, key contacts, event calendar, editorial calendar, and speaking opportunities

  • Seek out and assess state and county fair media opportunities and speaker placements


Manage all Commercial marketing PR opportunities

  • Assess all inbound media requests and event invitations relevant to commercial markets (e.g. Farm Journal, High Plains Journal, Davos on the Delta)
  • Manage general conference calendar for Commercial markets, both executive and employee speaking engagements
  • Facilitate media interviews, both in-person and over the phone
  • Work collaboratively with the Corporate PR team to triage requests
  • Work with PR team to merge Commercial and Corporate PR into an integrated communications strategy to support our global brand
  • Act as a partner to Indigo’s corporate PR, legal, and investor/government relations


From strong relationships with top Indigo growers; engage IRP grower community in unique spokesperson strategy


Demonstrate excellent PR execution

  • Build excellent relationships with reporters at top tier, agriculture, regional, trade media outlets and Memphis media
  • Achieve a 70% pickup rate for major releases in top 10 targeted agricultural and regional publications. Within first 60 days, hold at least 2 briefings/virtual outreach events for local media
  • Secure placement of seminar listings in local events sections of newspapers
  • Establish Indigo as a resource (secure Indigo subject matter experts) for publications when they need an expert opinion on ag-related stories


Seen as a partner by Indigo’s leadership when speaking for the company externally

  • Lead media training sessions and prepare leadership for interviews with ag-focused publications and event opportunities

  • 5-10 years of relevant agency or in-house experience (modern brand that has transformative DNA)
  • Deep understanding of Indigo’s business
  • Family farm experience and ag experience, a plus
