Indigo is developing microbiome-based agricultural solutions to improve crop yields with sustainable products derived from plant microbiomes. The primary function of this role will be to support the abiotic screening pipeline for the identification of microbial strains that provide benefit in our plant based assays. The discovered strains will continue to enrich the pipeline and result in commercial products.

 

Outcomes:

  • Manage the microbial preparation pipeline operation for assays in multiple crops
  • Work independently in the laboratory to develop biomass production and shipping pipeline
  • Learn and apply fungal and bacterial preparation protocols with use of cell flowcytometry and robot liquid handler to maximize throughput 
  • Be able to work independently in the laboratory to develop biomass production and shipping pipeline
  • Be comfortable using robot liquid handler and cell flow cytometer to maximize throughput
  • Be able to coordinate cross departmental activities and maximize scheduling of microbial treatments

 

Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or associate degree with 2-3 years’ experience in biology/microbiology/biotechnology required
  • Experience in cell/microbial cultures required
  • Experience with media preparation (basic chemistry background) required
  • Sterile technique required
  • Basic data management skills (Excel or similar platform) required
  • Basic fungal and bacterial taxonomy is desired
  • Flow cytometry knowledge is desired
  • Liquid handling robot experience use is desired
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
