Job Description
Job Title: Principal Consultant, Tribal Healthcare
Base Salary: $150,000 - $175,000
Location: USA
Work model: Remote
Travel Requirements: Up to 50%
Reports to: Consulting Practice Lead
Job Summary:
As a Principal Consultant, Tribal Healthcare, you will play a critical leadership role within the Healthcare Consulting Team with a strong background in revenue cycle consulting, healthcare and tribal relations. You will oversee multiple large projects and clients and will be the key contact for many client relationships. You will have direct and indirect reports and will mentor team members. You support the Consulting Practice Lead in developing and implementing efficient team processes and procedures. You have a significant role in business development, working closely with the Sales team on new clients and also hold responsibility for growing current client accounts.
Essential Job Functions:
Revenue Cycle Consulting
- Review and analyze billing, claims and payment procedures to identify optimization opportunities
- Develop detailed and accurate financial models
- Develop clear and actionable improvement recommendations
Client Management & Delivery:
- Cultivate and build long term relationships with senior executive clients.
- Lead client meetings and workshops, contributing to discussions and building strong client relationships.
- Accountable for the successful delivery of project plans and work plans.
- Report to the Consulting Practice Lead on the status of current projects and offer solutions for any roadblocks.
- Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop insightful recommendations for clients.
- Offer deep expertise in areas of specialization – healthcare, consulting and tribal relations.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Provide leadership and mentor the Healthcare Consulting Team.
- Collaborate effectively with project teams and senior leadership.
- Support the development and implementation of best practices within the consulting team.
- Align resources to the capacity and need.
Business Development:
- Support business development activities, with new and current clients.
- Contribute to the development of intellectual capital and best practices within the Indigenous Pact.
- Actively participates in professional associations, industry, firm and community events.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Revenue Cycle Consulting
- Deep understanding to tribal health reimbursement structures and payment models
- In-depth knowledge of revenue cycle best practices, hospital and ambulatory billing processes and systems, and third-party reimbursement methodologies
- Knowledge of applicable industry regulations and policies
- Ability to present findings at all levels from executive to billing teams.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management systems
- Preferred knowledge in fundamental coding RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC
- Expertise in Team Leadership, Project Delivery, Client Relationship Management and In-depth Industry Expertise:
- Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, including providing constructive feedback and driving team performance to excellence.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.

- Deep industry expertise in one or more areas (e.g., Healthcare, Consulting, Tribal Relations).

Education and Experience:
- 7+ years of relevant consulting experience with a proven track record of successful project delivery (experience working with Tribal communities, is considered an asset).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, Tribal Relations, Economics, Finance or a related field, MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- Consulting certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Project Management Professional, Change Management Professional).
- Expertise in data visualization tools.
- Experience in business development and client relationship management.
Physical and sensory demands:
- This position will require extended periods of sitting, typing, and working on a computer screen.
- Close vision is required for computer work.
Working environment:
- This is a remote position, with expected working hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm. Adjustment of working hours may be required to accommodate time zones.
- Local and national travel required - up to 50%
