About the role:

Guardant Health is looking for a seasoned Medical Director who cares about the health of patients and the community, and has a keen attention to detail that enables them to detect medical conditions and diagnose before conditions progress. In this exciting role, you will be joining a company that has the growth of our care model committed to promoting health equity and a goal of attaining this in one generation.  Oversight duties as the Supervising MD, Clinicians (RN and Behavioral Health) and Paraprofessionals providing virtual and in-person, concierge care for patients.

The ideal candidate is someone who demonstrates empathy and compassion for patients and the work we do to help them safe and supported so they trust us with their care. Must have a team-based approach that values the insights and contributions of all members of our staff. As a member of an interdisciplinary care team, you will effectively collaborate with a supervising physician to deliver remote clinical services.   

Base Salary: $250,000

Location: USA, Remote

Work model: Remote

Travel Requirements: 20-25% travel required to various locations in USA.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Provide Clinical program supervision and clinical leadership on all aspects of care and programs nationally.
  2. Maintain regularly updated and complete medical records that document all evaluations, medications, treatments, test results, care gaps and how they are being addressed.
  3. Ensure full compliance with regulations and make sure that the current care program is as effective as possible.
  4. Provide clinical oversight to mid-levels and support team on patient care planning and treatment.
  5. Review paraprofessional evaluation of patient’s symptoms and determine the most appropriate course of treatment to address them.
  6. Ability to conduct clinical visits as a treating clinician 80% of the time via telemedicine services to patients nationally.
  7. Ability to provide treatment within the scope of practice and specialty when needed.
  8. Prescribe medications (when appropriate) and perform Medication Reconciliation in compliance with state and federal statutes and inform patients of all possible risks, complications, and that may interfere with prescribed medications.
  9. Educate both patients and staff on educational topics such as proper nutrition, fitness, mental health and social determinants of health needs so that all can make informed decisions regarding preventive and chronic health needs.
  10. This role is anticipated to require administrative medical director duties and responsibilities 20% of the time- approximately 1 day out of 5. 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Medical Degree from an accredited medical school
  • A current, UNRESTICTED medical license to practice in the states of AZ, CA, WA, MT and NV.
  • Extensive clinical experience in a medical practice beyond the required residency.
  • Board-certified in Primary Care/Family Medicine, or a relevant specialization.
  • Current DEA with no restrictions
  • Medicaid (preferred) and Medicare (required) enrolled
  • Able to provide care for Medicare members - no history of sanctions or adverse actions.
  • Experienced with working remotely with populations that are culturally diverse (American Indian/Native Alaskan, tribal and FQHC)
  • Multi-lingual preferred
  • A detail-oriented and compassionate approach with patients and staff who can lead the team in providing patient care in a team based and whole person approach
  • Strong leadership and organization skills
  • A well-developed ability to solve problems
  • Experienced in the provision of remote care through the use of telehealth via phone and video devices by a clinical team
  • Computer savvy - not afraid of new technology
  • Able to be available to paraprofessional staff needing assistance during regular and some office hours including evenings, weekends and some holidays.
