The Opportunity
InCharge Energy is seeking a Government and Public Affairs Intern to work in our Santa Monica, California office. The Government and Public Affairs Intern will research and track electric vehicle (EV) policies and programs across local, state, and federal governments and electric utilities. The Intern will support InCharge Energy and its partners to secure grants and incentives for EV charging infrastructure. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer and communicator, highly organized, and passionate about the future of electric transportation. The Intern will be a part of our Government and Public Affairs team. This internship is a paid opportunity. This internship is 100% in office.
What You’ll Do
- Research, track, and present policies and programs related to infrastructure and EV funding and learn to convert them into commercial opportunities.
- Interact with the InCharge team focused on electric utilities to identify grant and incentive opportunities for EV charging infrastructure to serve In-Charge Energy clients and partners.
- Collaborate with InCharge Energy teams and partners to pursue funding opportunities.
- Draft and develop infrastructure projects for grant funding opportunities, integrating the work of operations, engineering, clients, and grant writers. This may include writing grants, coordinating with a grant writer, and the creation of project schedules and budgets.
- Supports the responses to Requests for Information and Requests for Proposals.
Your Experience and Capabilities
- Recent graduate or university senior enrollment status with a major in Public Policy, Political Science, Government Affairs, Sustainability, Communications, or related field.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, well organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for project tracking and coordination.
- Ability to work with and communicate across highly cross-functional teams.
- Passionate about the environment and building the future of electric transportation.
