About the role....

Inari is looking for a Field Research Agronomist to expand our biological data generation, analytical, and computational capabilities within the Late Product Development and Crop Science team.  Field Research Agronomists collaborate with breeding and sales to collect data that aligns product offering, placement, and education with commercial objectives.  These Research and Development focused positions bridge between line development and sales by evaluating product performance and placement.

Field Research Agronomists travel up to 50% with more frequent travel during summer peak.  The role can be remotely based from a home office, provided central access to Western corn belt geographies (IA, MO, MN, NE, KS, SD, ND) and reports to the Crop Science Director in West Lafayette, IN.  

As a Field Research Agronomist, you will…

  • Manage relationships, draft and implement protocols, and data flow from internal, independent third-party, and seed company researchers including site selection, protocol deliverables, and environment impact on trials 
  • Pack and ship seed to researchers
  • Uniformly collect subjective and/or labor intensive phenotypes required for product characterization  
  • Communicate in-season findings to breeders and Technical Sales Agronomists to improve information flow and knowledge transfer
  • Deliver high-quality, timely, and organized data in tabular and geospatial formats to Inari data scientists.  Collaborate with data scientists on data quality control measures
  • Use data to drive product advancements
  • This role will require ~50% travel with more frequent travel during summer peak season 

 You Bring…

  • BS in Agronomy or other relevant scientific field AND 10+ years of seed field research experience 
  • Demonstrated understanding of corn and soybean crop physiology, agronomy, pests, management practices, crop protection, seed technologies, and customers within the US corn belt West territories is essential
  • Experience working with field trial data and other forms of spatial data 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, documentation, and communication with diverse audiences
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, walk walk large areas to inspect fields, and tolerate natural weather conditions during data collection
  • This job requires travel up to 50% with more frequent travel during summer peak
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly summarize data, communicate results, and act quickly and efficiently
