Impinj and Voyantic are seeking a Field Application Engineer to serve as the primary, field-deployed, technical liaison between Impinj and our EMEAI ecosystem partners. The RF technology will primarily center around embedded RAIN RFID UHF short range communication tag/transponder ICs new product pre-sales, industrialization, product portfolio selection and roadmap definition. There will also be an aspect of embedded and enterprise software technologies and sensor convergence in support of strategic enterprise customer deployments. Field Application Engineers must have engineering depth and breadth, be able to demonstrate excellent listening skills, capture key customer technical requirements, value customer interaction, problem-solving and enjoy travel. This position is located in our Finland Voyantic office and will be a member of the Impinj EPIC sales team.

What you will do:

  • Work closely with the Impinj EMEAI team members to promote and raise awareness of Impinj EPIC products at Impinj ecosystem partners throughout the territory.
  • Provide technical support to ecosystem partners industrializing new products based on our RAIN RFID UHF tag ICs to include applying manufacturing best practices, providing onsite technical support regarding RFID wafer, tag and inlay qualification and manufacturing.
  • Be the product technical domain specialist for our EMEAI customer and field sales and primarily liaison into Impinj for our EMEAI ecosystem partners technical needs
  • Represent new customer requirements and market needs back to product management and engineering teams.
  • Work with Voyantic state-of-the-art tools and experts to enable rapid, real-time ecosystem support in achieving high quality industrialization of Impinj EPICs at the scale
  • Provide in region, real-time initiative-taking and reactive activities for EPIC with label ecosystem (bonder, converter, SBs) partners.
  • Work with our Product and Sales team to build technology demonstrations or proof of concepts that showcases our RAIN RFID End Point IC’s capabilities.
  • Review and monitor quality, and manufacturing in support of quarterly reviews with select top partners
  • Develop key technical contacts and relationships with-in the label ecosystem.
  • Develop requirements for specific label attach use-cases for custom antenna design and end-user innovative new programs or item categories.

What you will bring:

  • 7+ years of experience in applications engineering of RF products or related electrical engineering fields supporting customers resolving manufacturing issues.
  • Relevant understanding of, and industry experience in, high volume manufacturing processes and machinery used in RF product manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of RF principles associated with link budgets, antenna design and propagation, and characteristics of unlicensed spectrums.
  • Proven skills in building rapport, customer service, customer empathy, in a meticulous manner with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities, to effectively 
    represent Impinj and our IC products to technical audiences, multiple languages (including proficient in English)
  • Demonstrated experience working with customers to understand requirements and translate these into technical solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; advanced degree, including a Master's in Engineering is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, 25-50%, including international travel. 

This is a full-time (37,5h/week) remote position with the possibility of using the Voyantic office and tools in Helsinki for work. Due to the nature of a global team and time difference to Seattle, some evening work is required a couple times a week.
