Team overview:

We're seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join our growing team, helping to build the next generation RAIN RFID platform for a diverse set of applications, from healthcare to logistics to retail. We have fantastic challenges ahead of us: efficient stream processing of large volumes of data; complex algorithms to process and extract insight from raw RFID data; and building a software stack that scales from one reader to a global deployment of readers. And we do all this while collaborating with engineers across the stack, from tagged items to the cloud, to deliver phenomenal integrated solutions to our customers.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate closely with other Development teams to understand customer requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Lead the installation, configuration, and maintenance of internal-facing Linux servers in support of our Engineering teams.
  • Oversee and perform system updates, patches, and regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance, and proactively resolve issues.
  • Design and implement advanced system security measures, including firewalls, SELinux, and secure SSH configurations.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and use configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible) to streamline administration tasks.
  • Manage virtualization platforms (e.g., KVM, VMware) and ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Architect and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and enhance continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) processes.
  • Create and maintain detailed system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and change management logs.
  • Participate in and lead on-call rotations, providing expert-level support during emergency situations.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience administering and managing Linux-based development environments
  • Understanding of basic networking, including subnets, routing, and VLANs
  • Certification as Red Hat Certified System Administrator or CompTIA Linux+
  • Experience with systems automation, especially with Ansible
  • Experience with the creation and deployment of system images in an enterprise environment
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, LDAP, and VMware
  • Experience with scripting languages

Compensation and Benefits:

The benefits listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Impinj and the country where you work.

The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $106,000 - $163,000. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.

At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
