About This Role

We’re looking for a talented Head of Product Design to be the voice of design across Imgur (including our second app Melee) and to build a world-class Product Design team. You will define and execute the product design and brand strategy while partnering with our product, community, and engineering teams. If you are passionate about designing and building better products and excited about inspiring others, then this role may be perfect for you.

The role:

  • The primary responsibility of this is role is to own the overall Product Design strategy at Imgur, both pushing our design forward while maintaining brand cohesiveness across our product lines
  • This is a unique opportunity where you will be able to build your team from scratch.  You will hire, manage, and mentor a small product design team.  You will be able to lead the team and establish the team culture through your personal vision and values.
  • Additionally, you will..
    • Collaborate closely with founders to modernize Imgur’s brand and identity 
    • Evolve Imgur’s design practice and processes
    • Roll up your sleeves to create new designs & prototypes - this is a hands-on role
    • Partner with Product Managers to conduct user research and review test data to translate them into effective solutions

What you bring to the table:

  • 5+ years of UI/UX experience, including experience as a Product Design lead
  • A leader who prefers to lead by doing, you can’t resist the urge to practice your craft by working alongside your team to unlock creativity.
  • Cross-platform experience (mobile apps, mobile web, and desktop web) and across all levels of fidelity (wireframes, mockups, and prototypes)
  • A respected designer and product thinker that has mastered their craft
  • A mentor who is energized by others’ growth and knows how to motivate a team 
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and make design decisions quickly.
  • Well versed in both Design Thinking approach and Agile methodologies.
  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Skills in a wide range of design and prototyping tools (we use Figma)
