At IMC, technology is not a department; it’s at the heart of everything we do. Developed in house, our innovative software makes millions of trading decisions daily, and we win by making better and faster decisions than our competition.

IMC’s Amsterdam-based Global VMM Data team works on a centralised global data platform to serve high-quality curated data for Valuation Market Making (VMM) research and strategies all throughout IMC. We address the ever changing data requirements and our team tries to solve this in a (near)greenfield project building a central system to ingest, curate and expose data to our research tooling within IMC.

Your Core Responsibilities:

As a Trading Data Software Engineer, you'll work on enabling high-quality research using fundamental option pricing data. Next to that you will increase researchers' focus by centralising the curation of the data and enable quick onboarding of new data sets, to allow for researching new types of strategies that are going to play a vital role in the strategies of IMC now and in the future. We build the tooling that allows a team of data curators to perform their magic and on top of that we expose our data to research tooling to provide a global access.

You’ll write reliable, high-performance software while balancing time to production with quality and testability. Advanced automated testing and daily deployments will allow you to achieve agile and incremental benefits. Within the complex landscape of IMC and its systems and technologies, you’ll be constantly challenged to consider trade-offs between latency, throughput, simplicity, scalability and maintainability. Your core tasks will include:

  • Coding, developing, testing, deploying and maintaining applications and automations for data curators, other VMM developers and Traders/researchers to support them and understand their actual needs and the data we serve them.
  • Working on a (near) greenfield project and being involved of the architectural design of our system.
  • Building a system that is highly-performant at serving petabytes of data globally.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • At least > 4 years of experience as a Software Engineer
  • Strong programming skills in Java (11+), but experience in the latest versions of Java is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and Linux
  • Strong programming skills with Python, especially around data - highly preferred
  • Experience working in data analysis and building out data platforms and data - highly preferred
  • The ability able to work on greenfield projects under minimal supervision and to take full ownership of the applications you build
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills; ability to solve problems creatively and proactively
  • Prior knowledge of trading / capital markets is not required. Curiosity and a willingness to learn is.

Our tech stack includes an ever-evolving range of systems and technologies, and our engineers have the freedom to choose the best solution for the problem at hand. If a new technology has the potential to add value, we’ll actively invest in exploring, adopting and developing it.
