At IMC, technology is not a department; it’s at the heart of everything we do. Developed in-house, our innovative software makes millions of trading decisions daily, and we win by making better and faster decisions than our competition. Our Amsterdam Backoffice Development team creates scalable business-critical applications, tools and automated tasks to mainly support IMC’s Amsterdam, London, Zug and Mumbai’s Mid-Office and Compliance teams.

Your Core Responsibilities

You will work on a wide range of projects related to the Mid-Office department who are responsible for trade, position and P&L reconciliation. In electronic trading, transactions are happening at high speeds and enormous volumes. Mid-Office validates and provides detailed information about the performance of our strategies and plays a crucial role at the start of our trading day to ensure that our trading desks have a clear and accurate picture of their exposure and risk. You will be working alongside other engineers and Mid-Office analysts, contributing to both small scripts/jobs, as well as building and improving bigger full-stack tools and applications. You take ownership for end-to-end product development – from requirements gathering to production. Your main responsibilities:

  • Designing and building bespoke tools, applications, dashboards and automations for IMC’s Mid-Office and Leadership.
  • Occasional investigating and troubleshooting of operational incidents
  • You will sit together with the Mid-Office department, understand their day-to-day operations and help them to further improve their processes. You will be proposing new tools and/or automations and will work closely with your colleagues form the Backoffice Development team to deliver on these.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Deep technical knowledge of Python. We use a range of Python libraries and frameworks such as FastAPI (AsyncIO), APScheduler, Pandas, Polars, RQ and Pytest;
  • Experience with DevOps, databases or frontend frameworks is as plus. Some examples of tools we frequently interact with: Kubernetes, Docker, Redis, PostgreSQL, Dremio, HDFS and Kafka.
  • A critical mindset and the ability to challenge ideas and solutions, not to take things for granted, verify information and dig into details to find all corner cases;
  • Experience working with financial data is considered a plus. You’re curious about the financial world, enthusiastic about technologies and you’re not afraid to ask questions.

Our tech stack includes an ever-evolving range of systems and technologies, and our engineers have the freedom to choose the best solution for the problem at hand. If a new technology has the potential to add value, we’ll actively invest in exploring, adopting and developing it.
