Scope of Job

The IHI Terrasun Solutions General Manager - Gemini will provide customers with technical direction and support for the IHI Terrasun Solutions Gemini Project, including hands on installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of these products. The General Manager - Gemini must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users and must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the system life. As the Energy Storage industry is still in its infancy, the selected candidate can expect a fast paced and exciting learning environment.

 

Primary Job Functions

  • Oversee the day-to-day field operations of the PV + Storage system
  • Provide technical consultation and product support to technical and commercial counterparts, including communications with Field Service Engineers, Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and Logistics daily
  • Manage the strict compliance of Power Purchase Agreements, LTSA Agreements, Interconnection Agreement, among other agreements for operating the project
  • Oversee NERC/ISO procedures, reporting requirements, and training of operations staff
  • Oversee and manage all WECC and NVE operational, contractual and reporting requirements
  • Communicate customer feedback to Engineering and Sales teams
  • Conduct training of customer personnel via a train-the-trainer program to enable them to operate equipment safely and effectively
  • Utilize CMMS and SCADA systems to develop performance and reliability reports highlighting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) working directly with Performance Engineering and Quality
  • Provide technical support for fault isolation and troubleshooting
  • Recommend appropriate procedural and/or policy changes that will help overall effectiveness and operational quality
  • Manage Work Management Process including Planning and Scheduling of resources and publishing weekly schedules for internal stakeholders
  • Ensure EHS Program is maintained to OSHA and NFPA 70E standards and day to day regulatory requirements are being met
  • Execute administrative responsibilities including monthly reports (charts/graphs), weekly service reports, weekly meetings, daily log sheet reporting, daily logbook recordkeeping, generating/closing audit findings, maintenance/calibration log sheets, writing procedures, writing JSAs, EHS and industry compliance course completions, Quality compliance, IHI polity compliance, Expense Reporting, Customer Issue Tracking, Near Miss reporting, Customer Warranty Claims, and support aftermarket service agreements
  • Communicate directly with the customer concerning final warranty decisions
  • Coordinate return and repair of defective parts in support of warranty claims
  • Develop and manage field tools for field assignments/projects
  • Ensure excellence in all operational areas

  • Provide technical support for installed equipment onsite
  • Performs miscellaneous financial/accounting duties as requested.
  • Seeks constant improvement, more efficient and less expensive ways and means in work processes.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Qualifications (Education & Work Experience)

  • 10+ years relevant Asset Management experience in field engineering & O&M in electrical power equipment or energy space
  • PV + Storage asset management experience required
  • Experience with high power electrical equipment and work
  • Demonstrated ability to exceed individual performance goals and to work with engineering & sales personnel to achieve team objectives
  • Self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized, and flexible
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Accomplishments that reflect leadership, teamwork, integrity, and accountability
  • Willingness to travel and work with customers

Desirable:

  • B.S. in an Engineering discipline (4-year degree)
  • Advanced degree in a technical field such as EE, ME, or Computer Science/Engineering.
  • Knowledge of detailed requirements of a broad range of battery applications
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, analyze, and interpret data
  • Knowledge of battery standards, regulations, and safety procedures
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in meeting project/program goals, while satisfying quality, performance, schedule, and cost requirements
  • Project and people management experience
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in customer-focused problem solving

 

Travel & Location:

The position is based in Las Vegas, NV and may involve up to 5% or more travel to customer and vendor locations, including international, and the home office.

The national pay range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 / year and is considered a Level M3 – Manager role. This pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, and location. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in an annual discretionary bonus.
