Position Summary 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr Manager, Performance & Operational Analytics to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in optimizing the performance of our battery energy storage systems (BESS) by running comprehensive diagnostics, analyzing project data metrics, guiding field technicians, communicating findings to executive staff both internally and externally, and leveraging data and analytics with internal initiatives within engineering for enhanced preventive maintenance and failure anticipation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Diagnostics and Performance Analysis:
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostics and performance evaluations of BESS using advanced data metrics.
  • Analyze system performance data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and overall performance of BESS.
  1. Field Technician Support:
  • Provide clear and actionable direction to field technicians for system troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and best practices for field operations.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for field technicians to ensure consistent and high-quality performance.
  1. Stakeholder Communication:
  • Articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely to executive staff.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on system performance, diagnostics, and recommended improvements.
  • Collaborate with executive management to align technical strategies with business objectives.
  1. Predictive Analytics and Preventive Maintenance:
  • Utilize predictive analytics tools to forecast potential system failures and performance issues.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance practices to minimize downtime and extend system lifespan.
  • Continuously monitor system health and update maintenance protocols based on data-driven insights.
  1. Team Management and Delegation:
  • Develop and manage a team of engineers and analysts, ensuring tasks are appropriately delegated and completed on time and under budget.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, providing mentorship and support to team members.
  • Monitor team performance, providing feedback and implementing improvements as necessary to maintain reliable and efficient analysis work.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in BESS technology and predictive analytics.
  • Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in performance improvement projects and initiatives.
  1. Establish Process & Systems:
  • Enable the replication of efforts from site to site
  • Automate site specific data modeling and collection
  • Develop key metrics and measures to ensure effectiveness

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in performance engineering, preferably in the energy storage or renewable energy sector.
  • Strong expertise in battery energy storage systems, including diagnostics, performance analysis, and predictive maintenance.
  • Proficient in using data analytics tools and software for system performance evaluation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor field technicians and other team members.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing performance issues.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, IoT devices, and other relevant technologies is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams and ensuring project completion within time and budget constraints.

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

  • IHI has offices in Chicago. This position could be remote.
  • Position involves 20% or more travel to customer sites and conferences 

 

The national pay range for this role is $130,000 - $165,000 / year and is considered a Level M4 - Senior Manager role. This pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, and location. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in an annual discretionary bonus.
