Job Summary: 

The Vice President of Merchandising is responsible for developing and driving iHerb’s Merchandising and Purchasing strategy to optimize revenue and growth.  This executive leadership role will lead and support Category Leaders in the development and attainment of key KPI’s and partner with senior leadership to ensure the successful execution of company initiatives.  The VP will oversee a team focused on developing and growing categories, vendor relationships, and overall profitability. This includes but is not limited to sourcing product, pricing, supplier negotiations, optimization of key, high-volume brands, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

 

Job Expectations: 

  • Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics for margin, pricing, promotions, all stages of the product life cycle while ensuring a keen focus on consistent and continuous improvement
  • Establish company merchandising strategies through further development of current assortment and  optimization of key categories  
  • Lead and execute supplier negotiation strategies to optimize cost savings and  drive long-term growth while developing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships
  • Create, deliver and lead internal and external presentations to senior leadership, key suppliers and iHerb team members
  • Partner with Marketing on strategic deliverables including but not limited to, supplier co-op initiatives, promotions, and targeted market campaigns.
  • Drive and create compelling, cohesive, and innovative brand and product strategies to meet and/or exceed revenue and margin forecasts
  • Deliver and lead data and analytics to support and drive objectives (KPIs) and potential opportunities that include but are not limited to: vendor, brand and product rankings, promotional pricing (rebates, chargebacks, discounts, growth incentives etc.), promotions ROI, category analysis, cost and profit improvements 
  • Utilize data to discover opportunities and drive strategies and tactics that drive profitable growth across all categories
  • Create  the strategy for key vendor communications to drive and improve vendor partnerships
  • Partner closely with other functions throughout the organization to execute a common vision focused on success and growth
  • Lead and coordinate in partnership with other departments specifically BI, Planning, and Operations on strategies to improve supply chain efficiencies and ensure cost-cutting measures are in place as relates to Merchandising for greater company profitability
  • Lead weekly & monthly financial review meetings, identifying necessary actions to achieve KPIs
  • Work in partnership with the executive leadership team to define growth targets, budgets, hiring needs, and a strategic plan for realizing revenue growth and margin optimization

  • Revenue-focused experience in ecommerce industry
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate against tight deadlines with valued partners
  • Experience leading KPIs and metrics
  • High-energy and highly persuasive presentation skills delivering to small and large audiences
  • International market experience ( MENA, APAC, EU)
  • Executive-level communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong Operational, Merchant and Vendor management experience
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements, system overhauls, and solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborative approach to managing relationships and the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams to meet goals and drive growth, impact, and organizational performance
  • Fluency in common ecommerce, CRM and web analytics tools
  • Ability to thrive in a high-growth, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced environment (1800+ brands)    
  • Ability to move quickly and efficiently from one objective to another
  • Data analysis and pricing strategy background 
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, with awareness of deadlines, in a fast-paced business environment
  • Ability to analyze existing processes and implement changes to drive efficiencies
  • Strong negotiation skills, influencing abilities and relationship management

 

Equipment Knowledge: 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred

 

Experience Requirements:

  • Generally requires a minimum of 10+  years experience of strategic Merchandising with Buying and Planning experience
  • Demonstrated experience in an e-commerce environment, preferably within a strategic setting in a high-growth, fluid organization.

 

Education Requirements: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain related field preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.
