Job Summary: 

 

The Principal Front-End Engineer will be responsible for and own the front-end architecture and design of the platform. This role will be a key member of the Architecture Review Board in shaping the technical road map and standards. The Principal Front-End Engineer will work both independently and collaboratively to bring new ideas to the internal teams, making critical contributions to empower professionals to maximize their impact through transformational coaching, enabled by technology.

 

Job Expectations:

  • Strong experience in the design and development of large-scale, complex enterprise mobile and web applications

  • Comfortable collaborating with other engineers and the product team to contribute to the complete lifecycle of the mobile/web application, from architecting, development, deployment, and maintenance

  • Motivated self-starter who is comfortable driving solutions, guiding the other engineers, and working towards overall business objectives

  • Collaborate with UX Designer to turn excellent designs into excellent products

  • Work with backend developers to ensure that security, scalability, and reliability are designed and implemented from scratch

  • Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on time and on-budget

  • Collaborate and add value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions

  • Provision and maintain deployment resources for the cross-platform application

  • Influence system design by identifying and recommending design/requirement improvements for front-end enhancements

  • Plan and conduct research to implement the latest web technologies in order to produce high-quality websites and applications

  • Provide regular updates on projects 

  • Regular practice of CI/CD

  • Coach the team on software best practices (design, coding, troubleshooting, work breakdown, work estimation, refactor strategies, automated testing, etc.)

  • Provide third-level support to business users

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required:         

  • Proven track record of building mobile and web frameworks from scratch, bringing extensive years of experience with React Native, JavaScript performance, and security

  • Experience with architecting and launching complex native apps from concept to release

  • Previously published apps to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and have a solid understanding of the review process

  • Take ownership of what you are working on, feel responsible for it, and can deliver results in a fast-paced environment without constant supervision

  • Build and mentor react and react-native developers

  • Experience working as a React.js and React Native Developer

  • Experience with React tools including React.js, Enzyme, Redux, React-Hooks, and Flux

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript (5+ years) and HTML5, Typescript, SPA

  • Attention to quality through unit tests, automation scripts, and code reviews

  • Knowledge of agile software development processes and methodologies

  • Experience with CSS and CSS preprocessors, such as SASS or LESS, and front-end frameworks 

  • Expert in React unit testing frameworks like Jest and React Testing Library

  • Experience in performance optimization for React applications and build process

  • Communication skills: must be able to articulate and have a strong technical vocabulary

  • Evaluate and identify new technologies for implementation

  • Experience with NPM, yarn, or equivalent dependency management experience

  • Experience solving cross-browser and device compatibility, optimization, and layout issues

  • Experience with REST API, event-driven architecture applications, caching, scaling, security, etc

  • Knowledge of Relational and non-relational DBs

  • Experience with GraphQL and Apollo

  • Experience with React Based localization frameworks (i18Next, etc.)

  • Experience with building component libraries/storybooks

  • Full-stack development experience

  • Demonstrated success in building and deploying React and React Native applications

  • Production experience with Docker, Kubernetes is a plus

 

Equipment Knowledge:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred

 

Education and Experience:

Generally, requires a minimum of eight (8) years to ten (10) years of experience with software development, design patterns, software architecture

 

Education Requirements: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related fields
